Imagine you were the owner of an NHL team. The CBA has been signed at a $45 million dollar cap, and as a change of pace, the NHL is restarted by having a Dispersal Draft. You are allowed to keep 5 players from your team, who do you choose? Also, who would be your first realistic signing of a player in the Dispersal Draft?
From Boston I'd Keep: Joe Thornton, Sergei Samsonov, Nick Boynton, Andrew Raycroft, Patrice Bergeron.
First Player I'd sign: Scott Neidermayer/Sergei Gonchar
I figure that New Jersey would like to get rid of his large contract and he's better defensively than Gonchar who would be my second choice. Gonchar is such an offensive force that it's hard to let a guy like that go, but if Neidermayer wasn't signed by the Devils, I'd love to have him on the B's. Gonchar however, isn't a bad consellation prize.
