Imagine you were the owner of an NHL team. The CBA has been signed at a $45 million dollar cap, and as a change of pace, the NHL is restarted by having a Dispersal Draft. You are allowed to keep 5 players from your team, who do you choose? Also, who would be your first realistic signing of a player in the Dispersal Draft?

From Boston I'd Keep: Joe Thornton, Sergei Samsonov, Nick Boynton, Andrew Raycroft, Patrice Bergeron.

First Player I'd sign: Scott Neidermayer/Sergei Gonchar

I figure that New Jersey would like to get rid of his large contract and he's better defensively than Gonchar who would be my second choice. Gonchar is such an offensive force that it's hard to let a guy like that go, but if Neidermayer wasn't signed by the Devils, I'd love to have him on the B's. Gonchar however, isn't a bad consellation prize.

The first player I would like to sign is Adrian Aucoin or any other good defenseman.

For my Kings I would keep

Frolov
Gleason
Garon
Brown
Grebs

Although I think you should beable to keep more than just five players. That would be a crazy draft.

I would sign Iginla and Lidstrom (although Im sure that those teams wouldnt give them up)

for the oilers:

Brewer, Hemsky, York, Smyth, Torres.

Until you get a better idea who is protected how can u sign anybody.

It's ridiculous to think Pronger or Bertuzzi won't be protected.

Sign Khabibulin back after that's all done. :)

Some other Bolts fan feel free to smack me in the back of the head. I didn't think about this too long.

Coyotes:Doan,Comrie,Morris,Mara,Sjostrom,Spiller,Gauthier,Nagy
Goalies:LeNevue, ?
There is a need for a great veteran type goalie, because I don't think Boucher or Johnson are in their long term plans.

For the Sabres, I'd keep Vanek, Drury, Briere, Miller and Noronen

First signing, I'd snap up Antoine Vermette while he's still cheap and then some good young cheap defensemen. One pours a basement before building the house.

Toronto Maple Leafs:

5 to Keep: Antropov, Sundin, Tucker, McCabe, Kaberle
2 to sign on:
(1) one offensive d-man like Sergei Zubov or Eric Brewer (whichever is available)
(2) second pick would be either one great skating defensive forward like John Madden or Ottawa Sens back-up Martin Prusek (I figure they"ll keep one goalie there like Hasek but not the other...Prusek is 10-years younger than Belfour)
