I've recently been playing a lot of Grievous and man is he OP right now. His claw rush in small spaces is just unfair against shooters. If you put on the 50 extra damage after 1 target has been hit card you can basically take a shooter from full health to 0 in one claw rush.

Ran into some teams lately that have been running with a Grievous/Vader/Bossk combo and it's nearly unbeatable if the players in the squad are good. Bossk and Grievous in close quarters is such a good combo. Then throw in Vader who is just ridiculously overpowered in any situation.

I really wish they'd nerf the dark side a bit as whenever we face a good squad it's always whoever's dark side wins. Just too many good abilities between Vader/Iden/Grievous/Kylo/Bossk. The light side is also pretty boring to begin with. Feels like all the jedi are very similar.

It's at least not nearly as bad as it was before, in those pre-Anakin days. Instead of fixing the balancing issues, they just added an absurdly strong character in Anakin. Dark side still dominates, the light side takes a bit more skill to master to make deadly.

I wasn't into HVV in those days so can't speak of it really.

Anakin is a bit broken right now though. His heroic might gets stuck in the animation sometimes and his retribution doesn't get everyone even when they're not blocking or anything. Also, sometimes his retribution doesn't give damage reduction so the one guy he doesn't catch gets to kill him while he's int he animation.

I think once Vader gets nerfed a bit it'll be a bit more even, but the dark side still has a clear advantage imo. From what I've heard they're reducing the damage of his choke/saber throw combo. I'm all for that but I'd also like to see him not have so much damage reduction while choking in general.

Yeah, Anakin isn't nearly what he used to be and now he has bugs like the others. And back when they are the targeting system, Boba was a nightmare to deal with. Boba users would just jet around the map and there was little you could do to get him down. Had to hope for a good Finn or Chewie.

So I got this on sale a bit ago and have started playing a lot more. It’s overwhelming in the beginning, I have a couple of my characters up to level 15. I still don’t get everything that’s going on, and how to get better. What do you all recommend as an easy place/guide to refer to as I’m learning? Some advice for someone starting out? The heroes are out of my league so far, and I’m just starting to wrap my head around the cards. Where/how do you upgrade your guns?

Boba still is a nightmare to me . A good one is basically uncatchable on large levels. I've found Anakin or Luke to also be useful. Anakin with the pull and heroic might and Luke with the double knockdown as well. Leia is another good one as well. With the rapid fire she has you can normally get him as long as his teammates aren't pressuring you too much.

In general, I would recommend playing co-op to get used to the heroes/classes and to upgrade your cards. I would also try out supremacy to get some practice against real players too.

For heroes specifically, co-op is nice because everyone can have one and they're relatively easy to get enough points to play them. I'm a huge fan of heroes vs. villains but I'll tell you right now it's a very frustrating experience at first. Try out all of them and try to get a feel for most of them to the point where you know their abilities well enough when you face them you can kind of predict what they're going to do. For saber heroes, it's all about timing and knowing the abilities. It takes some practice before you'll start to get it. For shooters, you kind of need a good team or have to get really good with them to have much success.

For regular troops, you unlock the guns by and their attachments by getting kills with them. My numbers are off but it's something like: 25 kills for 1st attachment, 75 for second, 150 for third. And you unlock the second gun at like 100 kills or something like that. I would recommend co-op and supremacy again for these. It's easier and you'll get more kills. You can only use two gun attachments at a time though. I normally never use the infrared attachments but that's just me.

For the cards, you can attach three at a time. When you level up you get a point to unlock a card or upgrade one. You can only unlock or upgrade at certain levels though. Once you get to level 25 I believe it is, you can unlock any card. It's the same way with every player. You unlock cards by leveling up which you do by getting XP. Look out for double or triple xp events as you can level troops up very quickly.

What class does everyone normally use? I still <3 Officer. I use the pistol that bursts 4-shots. I also like to use Heavy every now and then. Using the sentry gun is just loads of fun. I'm much better with Officer, tho.

It usually depends on the map, but more often than not I like using the assault class. I like the new gun that they added a few months ago and I think the abilities are fairly balanced. For more close quarters I use the heavy class and the TL 50. I never really used the officer or specialist until I was able to fully upgrade them. Of those 2 I definitely prefer the officer class.

Also Battlefront 2 is free for Playstation plus users for June.

I main Assault, the most versatile IMO. Officer still gets the most battle points, so use them if you want a hero. I really like the new Heavy gun though, so use them quite a bit too.

I use officer as well. I forget the name but it’s the 4th gun. Tried the 5th gun for a while but just found it too inaccurate.

I enjoy the assault and heavy classes too but I’m normally trying to race to the hero and the officer has a big advantage with that.

Yeah, the SE-44C. The upgraded 5th gun is just a worse version of it.

Yep that’s it. Not great range but it has good enough accuracy and a crazy fire rate.
Oh yeah, I wreak havoc on fools with that gun. That's the 4-burst fire, right? Start at the chest, finish at the head!

That's the Blurrg. Those 2 have been the best 2 guns in the game, going back and forth with various nerfs. In the very beginning it was the CR2 though. The A280C is the most balanced IMO.

Hello lads, I've started playing this since it was on PS+. I loved the original Battlefront II, but that was a long time ago and online shooters have passed me by since the Modern Warfares ended. New Star Wars has also passed me by, I've seen Episode 7 and Rogue One and thought they were both terrible, so I don't know anything about modern Star Wars and have a hard time perceiving any of it as being related to the original stuff in any way.

What should I focus on to learn how to just play the game and not get killed instantly every time I spawn?

I think probably your best bet is probably grind on Coop for a while to get a handle on the mechanics and how each character plays before jumping head first online. There's double XP every wednesday so that's a good way to level them up.

Triple XP on a Wednesday. I was playing earlier and seemed to be getting a bit better. It's the amount of weapons and cards and unlocks that are all a bit overwhelming, I think.

triple XP? They change it every now and then.

I recommend looking at some of Battlefront Knight's videos on youtube.

I'd look through some of his videos because I think he explains it better than I could.

$19.99 on Steam right now and a big Star Wars fan so I decided to give this a shot. Got a new 4k laptop that I'd like to see get a little more use out of other than Football Manager. FM is the only game I've played since Counterstrike 1.5 nearly 20 years ago so needless to say I expect to be quite terrible and will probably give up a few weeks from now after showing little improvement.

EA's games on Steam are getting ripped apart after players found out you need to install their Origin bloatware on top of Steam.

This version Battlefront 2 (not the early 2000's version) is a prime example of how NOT to make a sequel to an extremely popular and successful first game. If you're in the gaming industry, you'll see why DICE almost lost their Star Wars video game licensing. It wasn't the pay stuff, it was the fact that they took all the awesome stuff from the first game and didn't put it into the second game.

I just downloaded this from PS+ and booted it up for the first time and now I feel so old and confused. Where’s the best place to start? It didn’t seem like single player was even an option yet. That menu system is pretty overwhelming for someone who pretty much never plays these type of massive online shooter games.

Campaign is the single-player, but besides getting the rewards, it's not really worth it. I'd start in co-op, it's a 4 man match against AI, you'll be placed with randos, so no need to worry if you don't have friends to play with. It counts as online for progress, but it's a good training ground since you aren't going against vets who have been playing since launch.
