They knew what it was but they didn’t expect a steaming pile of crap at launch. The game play is ****ing horrible across the board. I can’t beleive this game wasn’t held back.
I can't even fathom where you're getting this from, unless you're making it up due to hatred for the company. The game is fine, the gameplay is great in all modes. Can you be more specific about what parts you don't like? Because I'm genuinely curious as to what you could possibly be talking about. You say it's horrible but those of us who are actually playing the game regularly don't seem to agree with you.

The maps are buggy as heck. krait is an abysmal mess that looks rushed in its execution, Kasshyk has so many stupid map bugs that I’m shocked it was released, microphones aren’t enabled (my biggest gripe about the game), the players only play the maps linerally when there’s tons of ways to flank their enemy to get to objectives, no team work whatsoever, the message that you sometimes have to play defense and be more tactical with your approach got lost, and so on and so on.

This is another typical buggy EA game that was rushed out the door. This game is a pile of crap. I’ll play it after the update tomorrow to see if they fixed stuff and then reasses.

Fair enough, I really agree with you on the teamwork thing. There are so many times I get frustrated because it seems like nobody can coordinate to achieve an objective, or if a team is dying, they all run back in to the slaughter one by one instead of grouping up. I haven't run into too many map bugs but I do hate on Kasshyk when they spawn you right in front of a barrier so that you have to jump over it to start running. Seems to happen to me way too often. Thanks for replying!

Here’s two videos I made about problems with the game.

Placing of Turrets on maps:

How to find other paths to get to the enemy/no one knows how to play these maps:

I play a lot of the Officer class and for the first video, while yes, it is annoying sometimes that you can't put that turret down exactly where you want, you can usually find somewhere fairly close to put it. I classify that as merely annoying at times.

As for the second video, I absolutely love flanking the enemy and I use it constantly to get a nice big boost at the beginning of battles.

Ewok Hunt is so ridiculously fun I hope they just keep the mode around full time. Definitely reignoted me into playing this again

The devs said that if enough people are vocal about loving Ewok hunt, they would bring it back permanently. Pretty fun game mode.

Welp, I caved and bought it for $10 on PS plus. I read they revamped the whole coin system, so I gave it a try. It's a fun game. Mindless and chaotic but fun. The third person camera angle is awesome.

It's a pretty good game. I always had it downloaded as Origin Premier member but never really tried it until Monday morning. I got to say I like it more than BFV because it's more than your typical "capture the cp" objective. Defend this. Move on. Blow up this. Escort this At-AT. Etc.

I heard bad things about this game too at launch but it sounds like most of those issues have been patched!

I played at launched and enjoyed it, but the two big issues I had at launch were the pay-to-win progression based on card packs (which they rescinded, but it still meant you were at a major disadvantage to anyone who had either been luckier than you or played a lot longer), and the crippling server lag. Really, it was the connection stutter that was the biggest problem.

I'm hoping it's improved in both categories? If so, I might give it another shot.

I had high hopes for the campaign, but it was....disappointing would be a kind word.

That’s nothing compared to how horribly the maps and games were designed. I deleted it a long time ago and play the first game instead.

A good point, although I think the lag issue was the main issue. At times, it was unplayable.

If companies are going to sell always online games, their servers should at least work.

When it was working, I had a good deal of fun with it.

Here’s a video I made with some of the stupid map issues I had with officer turrets. I’m an ass when I play with turrets and I should be able to place them wherever I want.

A year later, is this game worth getting at all? I got turned away after the whole MT debacle. Still a Star Wars nerd and want to love this game.

It actually is IMO. I heard bad reviews but again I have premier so I have access to it already and I figured I might start playing. They made some changes which are going to put Obi Wan in the game and a whole new Clone Wars fight. Many of the problems have been fixed.

Play the first game. You’ll see how badly they screwed up the second game.

I deleted mine about six months ago and don’t regret it at all.

Honestly I think a lot of the outrage at first was overblown. The game is still played (although I don't have the player count at this time, all I know is that I can find 40 player servers that are filled at night, that's it) and the patches have fixed a lot of the issues. IIRC the main crux of the matter was that they had too many lootboxes and Pay To Play and that has been removed, from what I see (do the crates you get with credits still count as a "loot box"?)

Star Wars Battlefront 2’s rollback on loot crates clears up what the game really is

For the loot boxes? Absolutely. The majority of the whiners didn’t even play the game.

The fact of the matter is that, loot boxes aside, Dice released a really really crappy game. Most gamers don’t get that.

::edit::

The loot boxes are worth even less than what they used to be. I bought a bunch before they cut it off and it does help in the game but not that much.

They recently released Geonesis which is pretty good and put out a new Obi Wan hero. So I think the game is still good but again I'm heavily biased since I play at least two hours every day.
