I chose Stamkos just because he was so dominant in his early years then injuries derailed him a bit, but I think he's back on track!

But yeah... anti-Leaf bias doesn't exist on HFboards
Tavares is winning ???. Does Tavares have to have 100% of the vote for you guys not to feel like a victim?

Hmmm. That’s not what Leaf fans were saying when their were rumours they might sign Stamkos.

lol, no.

Both on these boards and outside of here, almost all Leaf fans thought Tavares was better. A good number on this board didn't even want Stamkos for various reasons.

Thanks for the revisionist history.

Yeah, I'm sure its revisionist history that people thought after Stamkos' injuries and his less than impressive 15-16 season that Tavares was better. This wasn't an opinion held by just Leafs fans, it was pretty universal. Stamkos was a shell of his former self that year. Ask Tampa fans what they thought of him then.

As for some Leaf fans not wanting Stamkos, you seriously think that it's not possible that some people - after finishing dead last in the league - didn't want to sign a player who might disrupt the rebuild? Not to mention, his injuries and decline scared a bunch of us. I'm not saying that a lot of Leaf fans didn't want him, but there were a quite a few who didn't. Stop thinking that he was unanimously wanted.

Pretty comparable players but I'll take Tavares, interested in seeing his numbers playing with an elite talent in Marner, something that Stamkos has had his entire career whether that be MSL or Kucherov

It's not as if Tavares has had anywhere near the help with him since breaking into the league.

When comparing the players' teammates and their offensive contributions, it's obvious that Tavares was on an island his tenure on the.....island.

Tavares better score 95+ points this year, and every year, he's a Leaf if people are really going to continue to push the linemate argument. Tavares literally has zero excuses now to not be able to match Stamkos' peak seasons.

Tavares because I always thought he was a better centre than Stamkos and this was going back to his time with the Islanders.

So I was one of those Leafs fans who didn't mind when Stamkos re-signed in Tampa Bay and I was honestly more happy with them signing Tavares.

I mean I don't think Tavares will be in an only offensive role like stammer will be. Tavares and his linemates Marner and Hyman will all get pk time this year.

Also Tavares is like the 3rd or maybe 4th option on the pp so that will be interesting.

I think scoring will be close between the two.

Tavares has some magic “it” factor I just can’t describe. You don’t notice him for a while then boom, suddenly a highlight reel goal/assist

Stammer is amazing as well, hell of a shooter. This is really close, but I guess my old islander biases win out

I choose Tavares
Sure miss him :(

"would you rather be the leafs or any other team in the nhl"

just make the poll.

you will get 33 percent of the boards picking the leafs because 33 percent of these boards are leaf fans.

The results haven't changed from when Tavares was an islander to a leaf.

I dont have a link to the poll anymore but when polled and still an Islander, Tavares was a top 5 center.

After the move, he's now fringe top 10-15.

These boards operate on pure emotion most of the time. And AND you can't specualte a player to do anything unless he's already done it.
