A listing of the five Blues prospects at the WJC this holiday season...

TEAM CANADA

David Bolland: Expected to play a prominent role for the team given his strong two-way play and his offensive abilities. As emerged as a dominant PP quarterback with London in the OHL and play a similar position with Team Canada. Will wear an 'A' as one of the alternate captains, although he is being hampered by the dreaded "upper body" injury at the moment.

Andrew Cogliano: Will play on one of the scoring lines and will be counted on to produce offensively. Was Team Canada's top forward at the tryout camp in the last few weeks and expected to make an impact. Could be his coming out party as a bona-fide blue chipper.

Guillaume Lattendresse: Like Cogliano, expects to put up some points and will play a power forward position on a scoring line. Will also look to please the home Canada crowd with some big hits.

TEAM SWEDEN
Fredrik Pettersson: The energetic and feisty winger will be a key player for the Swedes, as he has settled in quite well with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL this year, leading the team in scoring. Will be a key scorer and energy player.

TEAM FINLAND
Tommi Leinonen: The last of four 2005 draft picks for the Blues playing at the WJC this year, Leinonen will be on the blue-line for a dangerous Finnish team that will be competing for a medal.

Missing out...

For Team U.S.A, Nate Hagemo has been injured for the last few months, so he will miss a return to the WJC, an tourney he played prominent role for Team U.S. last year. Also, Adam Pineault, who has also battled injuries this season, will not be on the powerful Team U.S.A this year.

For Team Canada, Brendan Mikelsson was expected to compete for a spot, but like Hagemo, has been injured for an extended period and could not attend Team Canada's try-outs, which was disappointing given his strong play at the Summer Camp.
