yes, 3 years 1 way. Next year he can play in the AHL without having to clear waivers (unless he appears in 43 games) and then the following season he would need to clear.

Thanks! I guess it would not hurt to spend one more season in the AHL since we will not be risking to lose him.

Not sure how I feel about this. It's not like Price has been gangbusters recently. And if it's 5 years, one more reason for wanting MB to get fired.

Since Waite joined the organization, here are prices stats:

2013-2014: 0.927 sv%, 2.32 GAA (finished 4th in vezina voting)

2014-2015: 0.933 sv%, 1.96 GAA (wins hart, lindsay, vezina, jennings trophy)

2015-2016: 0.934 sv%, 2.06 GAA

2016-2017: 0.923 sv%, 2.23 GAA (finished 3rd in vezina voting)

Then there was this season.

If Waite gets some blame for Price's season this year, he should also get some credit for Niemi's turnaround.

Waite is the best goaltending coach in the league.

I'm good with 5 years. I would have been satisfied with any extension really as he is one of the few in the hockey ops department I think is the right guy for the job.

I would wager that Waite is Price's "hire" more than Bergevin's. If Price likes him and wants to keep him around then he stays. Bergevin knows that his best chance of remaining employed is to keep his meal ticket healthy and happy.

There is no way Price wasn't involved in this. Waite's extension had Price's blessing.
