Hot take: We see Jake Gardiner in the top 20.

I feel the need to point out that Justin Faulk shouldn’t be anywhere near this list.

Ryan Suter at 23 says about all you need to know about that list.

His 19.47 defensive rating is pretty funny. Especially when Pesce and Slavin are only at 20.95 and 21.24.

Regardless of the amount of time the author spent on this article, it’s a misuse of the word Definitive.

I knew there were lists, but did not know there was a definitive one. Thank you for posting.

Andrew Berkshire is to "top player" lists what Eklund is to trade rumors.

It’s obviously intended to cement the bias of those it favors and create disdain from those fans it doesn’t

    Aka, clicks

Just like the other ones like this, it’ll be a blender of stats that fails to pass the basic eye test of matching reality

is Matt Niskanen a top 10 NHL defenseman still? Can’t wait to find out. I’m assuming Burns is #1 cuz muh shots. I love analytics, but everything about Berkshire is cringe.

Berkshire has a hate on for the habs management. I fully expect to see Weber out of top 40.

Berkshire had Petry in the top 23 Dman last year. Weber is legit just not a good Dman no matter how much Habs fans want to justify the Subban trade.

Karlsson should rightfully be number 1.

Karlsson was the best Dman in 2016-2017 change my mind. He was the top scoring Dman and wasn't even below average by any means defensively in 2015-2016. He had one off year slightly defensively in 2017-2018. He absolutely should be number 1.

Well depends on your definition of good. Weber isn't a 1D anymore. He's still top pairing, but he needs a good partner. Even with Josi, Weber showed flashes of no longer being a 1D for extended periods of time especially in 2015-2016.

I dont have to change your mind. You're wrong. The Norris went to burns and if I recall burns also fared better in ted lindsay voting. So why dont you change my mind, the minds of the writers association, and the players. Oh that's right you can't and your opinion dont. Mean. $hit.

You just lost. Erik karlsson is out.

Ryan Suter has been extremely overrated for a long time.

Faulk at #28 and Ellis not in top 40. Sure thing Sir.

Edit: I guess he can be in top 20. But with Ekholm at #30 it doesn't seem likely, does it?

Maybe but any list that ranks him as low as 23 is flat out wrong.

Norris voting is heavily biased a ton of times.

Yes, you're opinion matters more than the writers. AND THE PLAYERS THAT VOTE ON THE LINDSAY.

Go convince the players they're wrong. Go for it.
