Always sucks losing a championship in a shootout.

The Canadian Spengler Cup roster is becoming a who's-who of former Habs players. 2017-18 was like that and again this year

Torrey Mitchell
Adam Cracknell
Dominic Moore
Matt D'Agostini
Max Lapierre
Simon Despres (well not the Habs but played for Laval)
Zach Fucale

Cracknell was on this year's team?

Man has he ever bounced around this season.

It was about time for finnish team to take this cup. Many have tried but never been succesfull. I think that Kalpa was a first finnish team in ages, who took this tournament seriously and made their best to win it. It was truly worth it!

Now all we need is for Canada to not win gold at WJC and then we should be expecting a Don Cherry rant on how Canada is still the best.

Seems to be, that Canada has 352 skaters in NHL. That could be split in 17.6 teams with 13+7=20 man rosters. Din't count goalies, but they're there too.

So this Spengler Cup Team Canada was proably 18th-19th best Canadian National Team you could put on the ice.

Gives some perspective.

Maybe we should expand the World Cup for 32 teams. 20 different Team Canada's, and then rest of the 12. :sarcasm:

Vamos vamos! The rockets tonite are for KalaPa!

Enjoy beating the Liiga with simply budget moeny and without heart every year (Except when Tappara won it and Laine was in), Kärpät and Tappara. Just look at that Canadian roster, thats like their best squad from european teams.

Well, it's not like he would be wrong, Canada still is in all honesty.

Back to back golds in best on best in the olympics, current wjc champs, with that resume you are going to be acknowledged as the best, no harm in calling it like it is. The way cherry does it would piss some people off though, I can understand that.

It won't stay that way forever and all the time but let's be honest..............Canada is still number one from top to bottom until proven otherwise.

That is lately,lol.

Cmon now, you wouldn't be calling Finland the best with that lately resume?

Please, let's just be honest at least and watch the game here, no need for any of that Don Cherry/Canada stuff in a spengler cup final, it's got nothing to do with this final.

Only after we win and you bet your ass every Finnish poster in this site will in such an event. And the game's over hours ago.

Well of course they will, that's why Canadians do it...............because they have.

So you have no reason to get riled up about it, it's par for the course.

Canada claiming to be the best while holding zero titles of any worth would certainly be an entertaining possibility.

We will see when it happens, but right now of course it's not happening.

They are still the heavyweight champ, don't let it get to you too much, life is too short for that.

People like to talk like this....until there is a best on best tournament that is actually coming up. Somebody still has to take that from Canada. Especially considering the last two Canada looked to be on an entirely different playing field to the competition.

Best on best in hockey is an illusion. And winning close low scoring games don't mean domination. Domination is USSR 8-1 final in 1981 and USSR 6-0 final in 1979 that was domination. Those are about the only time someone was on an entirely different playing field to the competition, albeit just for the final... Soccer has and always had real international competitions for nations, hockey almost never has and certainly not today with almost everyone playing the same boring style. So keep deluding yourself.

The Spengler Cup always delivers, great atmosphere and fun tournament with good hockey on the big ice. Stop the whine fest.
