Rpbpantherfan, Thanks for the reply! I 'll visit the Indian River Mall in Vero, they have a sports shop there and hopefully will have some new stuff stocked. Good luck at the draft, you guys should get a good player!

Hey guys,

I have a question for you. I'm planning on coming down for a Jets/Panthers game in February and I'm wondering what it's like getting tickets. Would I have to book early online? Are there plenty enough that I can just get them as walkups? Are there websites that offer discounts for tix to games? And of course, I'm interested in checking out Miami, so would wand to know what the city has to offer in terms of nightlife, shopping, parks/recreation, beaches, etc.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Key West!

So I'm heading to Key West in 3 weeks to get married and whatnot. We're already booked in hotel and wedding related stuff, but I bet some of y'all might be familiar with Key West. I've never been! So, I have a couple of questions for those who might know.

Best place to get conch fritters?
Best margaritas?
Best restaurants in general?
Any cool crap I'm not thinking of that we shouldn't miss?

Definitely doing a cruise out to Dry Tortugas one day, but aside from that our schedule is pretty wide open. Thoughts?

Hey congrats on getting married!
I was just down there a few months ago. You have to hit Duval street which is like the Key West version of Bourbon street. Lots of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. You definitely have to check out Sloppy Joes on Duval for fritters, smoked fish dip, live music, and of course drinks. Check out the photos on the wall while you are there, lots of cool Hemingway related history.

Hit Smathers Beach on the south side for the white-sand beach and ocean swimming. Bring a cooler and a couple beach chairs so you and the bride-to-be can have your "Corona moment".

Definitely rent scooters while you are there as they are the best way to explore the island!

Woot! Thanks and thanks :)
We're staying on Duval, at La Concha. So Duval = check!
Sloppy Joes: Hadn't heard of it, but have it on my list now. Check!
Getting married ON Smathers beach, so... check!
Have scooters rented for the whole week. Check!

Getting all excited and junk now. :)

You'll love the Tortugas trip. Snorkel out by the pylons (where the old boats used to anchor) and you'll see stuff that will make your jaw drop. Marvelous place to see fishes of all kinds and sizes. The Fort Jefferson tour (45 minutes or so) was interesting and afforded some nice photography opportunities. Enjoy and congrats on getting married! PS you could camp at the fort for a "different" honeymoon.

If you're into the club/bars scene, Miami has plenty of that in South Beach. Obviously being from an area not near the ocean, checking out the beach is a must. I haven't been to Metrozoo in many years, but I've heard that it's one of the better zoos in the country as well as Miami Sequarium. I don't know Miami that well in general and am more familiar with Fort Lauderdale or West Palm, but I'm sure there's other stuff to do down there.

I live about twenty minutes north of Orlando, so I can give a good deal of info about the area here. Obviously Disney World, Universal Orlando, and Sea World are the main theme parks around along with the water parks around the attractions area. International Drive not far from Universal and Sea World has plenty of tourist traps like Ripley's Believe It Or Not and Wonderworks. Downtown Orlando has a large club/bar district near Church Street. I haven't been there since I was in 4th grade, but Kennedy Space Center is about 45 minutes east of Orlando on the coast.

Hope that helped :)

Restaurant suggestions in Orlando?

Hey all, me and my family are staying here in Orlando for the next couple weeks, and I was wondering if any of you would have any suggestions for some good eats here in Orlando. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Cheers :).

Brooklyn Pizza, has my NYer stamp for my fav in Florida.
It's off Semoran like a few minutes from the airport.
Been there twice a year and a half apart...both times it was like the scene in Ratatouie(sp?) when the critic zoned back to his mom's kitchen.

Hey all,

Was thinking about spending New Years in FLA. Most likely flying down from Northern Ontario to check out the game versus the Habs on the 31st and possibly the game versus the Rangers as well. It will be my first trip to FLA and my first live Panthers game.

Anyway, since I'm pretty unfamiliar with Florida, I have a couple questions (keeping in mind that the point of the trip is to attend the hockey games as well as shopping and partying/nightclubs).

1. Where to fly in to?
2. Best areas to stay (specific hotels/motels?)
3. Best way to get around (renting car/taxi/etc.)
4. Where to shop?
5. Best nightclubs

The idea is to stay somewhere near the BAC, but also in a spot close to shopping and nightclubs...if possible. Anyway, any suggestions or ideas would be awesome.

Thanks a lot.

1. Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport is about a 15-20 minute drive from the BAC and IMO would be your best bet. Miami International Airport is about a 45 minute drive and Palm Beach International Airport is about an hour.
2. Since you're from an area that isn't near an ocean, I'd suggest probably staying near Fort Lauderdale Beach. It's directly east of where Sunrise is and where the BAC is located. They have plenty of hotels in that area ranging from super cheap to super expensive.
3. Transportation in South Florida is pretty horrible and taxis would probably cost you a fortune. If you're 25 years old or over, I'd suggest renting a car for sure.
4. I'm not one to know much about shopping, but Sawgrass Mills is apparently the world's largest outlet mall and is right across the street from the BAC.
5. I'm also not one to know much about clubs, but I know there's a good number of them in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, some at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, and of course plenty in South Beach, but that's at least a good half hour south of Fort Lauderdale.

How old are you? What's your scene? Budget?

1. Where to fly in to? Ft. Lauderdale
2. Best areas to stay (specific hotels/motels?) Depends on budget
3. Best way to get around (renting car/taxi/etc.) Renting a car is a must
4. Where to shop? Sawgrass is game day convenient.
5. Best nightclubs If you want to do anything at a nightclub for NYE you're going to have to purchase tickets in advance.

If you tell me age/what your scene is, budget, I'll help you out.

2.Go to Priceline.com and offer $60 for a four star, sooner you do, the better chance of the better price.
4. Depends on how far you're willing to drive
5. Bold, depends on your definition of nightclub. This is the eastern strip club capital IMO.

I've been on priceline, expedia etc. I'm basically just looking for a package that includes flight/hotel/car rental.

Just remember to start low if you can name your price for the package, you'd be really really surprised.
