Irony about how people talk about what a trash teammate he is....multiple people in the game say he’s actually a very popular teammate, and that he’s very passionate about the game. No one has said he’s a racist. He has used homophobic slurs, which is where he got in a lot of trouble early on.

If you have a strong locker room, he could be a solid addition.

Subban is a player I wouldn’t stand on my team he screams bag licker to me I hate teammates who suck up to coaches and always want the spotlight. DeAngelo doesn’t seem to bad in that sense. I have a feeling a lot of guys liked DeAngelo probably a crazy partier and would stick up for the boys at the night club but Subban just seems like a very superficial and unlikable person. That’s how I view it.

You think the guys who got punched out by a teammate for taunting said teammate after a loss isn't too bad? I think it was made abundantly clear how much everyone hated him then. You hate players that always want the spotlight by are defending a guy who started a podcast with his own name in the title where he talks about all the nonsense he believes.

The problem is that he needs to have a mindset that would allow him to change.

Nothing from interviews and past experiences leads me to believe he is capable of the self reflection needed to truly fix his issues.

Just weigh the risk for a moment. On the plus side, you could add a very creative offensive player for a pittance. But on the downside, he could completely ruin the team dynamic and culture, and cause a disasterous PR nightmare.

I wouldn't need to think twice before passing on that risk. No to DeAngelo. Easy choice.

That’s probably what he believes in and he want to express his opinions saying it’s nonsense shows your bias

Yes.
One of the best offensive dmen in the league and plays with more edge than nearly anyone else whose of similar caliber skill-wise. Doesn't take very much research to find out that the incident in junior was him cracking a joke about a fellow White teammate being a soft Euro, even though many politically motivated hacks run with the narrative that he's some racist bully. Or to find out the fact that he's still good friends with practically every POC he's ever played with and interacts with them all the time on social media (Josh Ho-Sang, Justin Bailey, Anthony Duclair, Caleb Jones, Seth Jones, etc). Or to find out he was unanimously voted the funniest guy on the team, that according to anyone in the know: all of his former teammates say they loved playing with him. He was even the guy they chose to replace Stepan as the guy on the Mic for doing their fun locker room videos.

There is a narrative pushed about him on social media by people who with one click of their profile you can very quickly determine what their motivation is. Yea there are a few stories that can make you think he's a loudmouth/dick, but this is professional sports, there are TONS of loud mouths/dicks. And there are athletes who have ton FAR more heinous things than DeAngelo who don't get 1/10th of the vitriol.

BTW if anyone still believed that stealing the puck from K'Andre Miller story: that has been verified as false by every person involved, and K'Andre Miller and DeAngelo were actually texting with each other after this all happened, still follow each other on Instagram and like each others pictures as well. DeAngelo was one of the first & only players to stand up for Miller after the Zoom incident. As soon as Miller scored his first NHL Goal, DeAngelo immediately skated to the net to grab it. It was as if he wanted to do that for him specifically to show him that reputation he had isn't true and that he's got his back. Unfortunately a nice gesture got turned into a BS narrative by a political hack by the name of Adam Herman.
You're probably right, the Rangers a team that employed Sean Avery for years just for reference, let this player rot and will buy him out because he was mis-represented by the media and people that didn't do their research

You seem very upset by this. Maybe the reason he was kicked off his team for being a piece of **** is that he is, in fact, a piece of ****. Or wait... I didn't know that he holds a mic for random locker room videos. I guess it's all a misunderstanding and he's just a poor, innocent victim of cancel culture or whatever. My bad.

Saying something can't be nonsense because someone believes it is also nonsense.
I have no idea what he says on his podcasts. I’m assuming he is a santinist cultist, supporter in ISIS or against woman’s rights for all these people to be bashing his views. Kindve sad if people are bashing him because he’s Pro union/Pipeline and voted trump. But anyway this is a hockey site no idea what his irrelevant podcast that no one watches has anything to do with hockey or his teammates. I’d bet no one on the Rangers ever listened to one of his pod casts.

So you have no clue what he talked about, but you're offended because he might have been saying things you consider reasonable? Why are you white knighting for something you admit you don't know anything about?

Could you name one great thing he has done? KHL coming for him, he will wash out there if anyone understands English.
Well one thing is that he donated pizzas to all the nurses in a hospital. His sister posted about it on Twitter. He did a few things for the community too. That you can find on the Rangers Twitter page.

I dont think the Caps will be in the market for a RHD this offseason, but if they were I’d give the guy a shot with the understanding that this is probably his last shot in the NHL and he needs to shape up.

He didn’t hit a woman or have kiddie porn on his computer or anything serious, he was just a dick teammate. Isn’t the first and wont be the last. Talent is there.
Nope he didn’t but people are acting like he’s done way worse lmao

I'd want my team to give him a PTO, see how he behaves in the room.
If he so much as makes implications of anything racist then we could just drop him like that.
He ultimately can mature but it's a matter of whether it happens in the NHL or not.

DeAngelo is better than Barrie offensively, defensively, and physically. DeAngelo last year, in his second full year was better than Barrie ever was and his stats back it up

I see you’re a Flames fan; DeAngelo put up 5 less points than Gaudreau last year in 2 less games, while also only having 3 less goals, and would’ve finished 3rd on your team in scoring. And Gaudreau isn’t someone like Stone or Couturier whose stats are hindered by their commitment to defense, no, Calgary’s offense revolves around Gaudreau and his only role is offense

This is all while having very strong 5v5 stats and on a team with offense comparable to the Leafs last year where Barrie struggled to score, and while playing with Marc Staal at 5v5. DeAngelo in the same role as Barrie this year would’ve absolutely put up more points playing with McDavid and Draisaitl on PP1
Thank you!

All the hockey people around him are wrong and you are right, got it.
You don’t know EdJovanovski, do you? Man does his research. He is right on this one.

All your "hockey people" probably didn't even do their research on his two junior incidences. You can tell, because that's where most of the baseless "racist" accusations come from.

If he is to accept a 1 year league minimum deal, plenty of teams will be interested.

He'll POS or not, he's the type of defenseman the Habs need.

I sign him instantly for that one year and have tne team leadership set him straight.

It's only for 1 year for peanuts and you can drop him if he loses his mind.
Now if you were to say if we would sign him for 2 or 3 years at roughly 2 mill... hell no!

If I'm a GM I want to ice the best team possible. If I believe he won't disrupt team chemistry I go for it 100%. If I think he's not a fit then I won't sign him. That all depends on the team and his attitude.

The thing I'm not going to take in to consideration is the loud complaining from certain groups of people about his views on life.
If I’m an owner I’d fire my GM as soon as he mentioned acquiring ADA… PR and Team image is huge and powers Merch and ticket sales…ADA is cancer and I wouldn’t want him any where near my team.

Id take him on the hawks and trade Boqvist. Anytime that guy takes a hit he gets hurt and immediately leaves the ice doesn't care where the puck is. Really weak mentally and pinches in at the worst time. Alright offensively but not good defensively especially earlier in his career.

Way too much baggage for my liking, and I'm not convinced he'll ever change. Very much doubt his paid time off will do anything going forward.
