Speed, base-running, and small-ball. Great pitching can neuter hitters who are swinging for the home run.

AAA is the AHL of MLB. It's the top minor league and full of prospects and vets who aren't good enough for pro league, just like the AHL.

NPB would be more comparable to KHL. Foreign league, different play style and inferior completion like AAA.

The top Major Leaguers do not play in that Japan series so it's not all that surprising they didn't win the series

Why did they dominate the MLB in the Super Series?

Japan wins for 5th time in 6 games vs. MLB

Explain this to a baseball layman.

I messed up the thread title:

Someone told me that NPB is the AHL of Baseball

really takes all of 5 min of research to explain...look at the MLB roster. that "all star" roster is just a bunch of mid level talent and Acuna

Catchers
Yadier Molina (STL)
Robinson Chirinos (TEX)
J.T. Realmuto (MIA)

Infielders
Whit Merrifield (KC)
Carlos Santana (PHI)
Eugenio Suárez (CIN)
Chris Taylor (LAD)
Amed Rosario (NYM)

Outfielders
Ronald Acuña Jr. (ATL)
Mitch Haniger (SEA)
Enrique Hernández (LAD)
Rhys Hoskins (PHI)
Kevin Pillar (TOR)
Juan Soto (WAS)

Pitchers
Matt Andriese (ARI)
Scott Barlow (KC)
John Brebbia (STL)
Junior Guerra (MIL)
Brian Johnson (BOS)
Kenta Maeda (LAD)
Chris Martin (TEX)
Collin McHugh (HOU)
Daniel Norris (DET)
Vidal Nuño (TB)
Dan Otero (CLE)
Yusmeiro Petit (OAK)
Erasmo Ramírez (SEA)
Héctor Velázquez (BOS)
Kirby Yates (SD)

far cry from beating Betts, Trout, Judge, Verlander, Sale, etc

But I think a mid tier team in the NHL would crush AHL All Stars.

Is the level between NPB and MLB really as wide as the AHL vs NHL?

EDIT: He answered. More comparable to the KHL

"All-star" rosters.

The only guys that come remotely close are Realmuto, Acuna (both all-stars actually) and maybe Pillar (all-star level defender at least...)

NPB isn't MLB level but it's certainly not lowly like the AHL is in terms of skill.
