All I know is I would have kept the 1st (and drafted Guenther).

If the 2nd could not be traded for a Top 6 F or Top 4 D upgrade, I would have gone Pinelli.

But instead we got OEL and a U18 star.

Don't have time to follow all the prospects myself, but I do like reading scouting reports from the HF posters in the prospects section who actually watch these guys play full games.

(9*) - Dylan Guenther
41 - Francesco Pinelli
(73**) - Jack Bar
137 - Francesco Arcuri (would've gone Bar here with the traded pick above and then taken Arcuri next)
140 - Cole Jordan
169 - Justin Janicke
178 - Connor Lockhart
201 - Simon Motew

Quite honestly... whoever the potato favours at our picks. Plus Guenther at 9th OA (definitely would NOT have traded for OEL/Garland).

Edit: this would be it.
I guess that's a wrap.

So, not final as I'm too lazy to verify all this, but I think it's:

41 - Ayrton Martino
137 - Dmitri Buchelnikov
140 - Joshua Roy
169 - Brenden Sirizzotti
178 - Connor Kurth
201 - Peter Reynolds

Vancouver
9 - Guenther... easy pick, imo
41 - Stankoven - what an absolute steal! (backup would be Chibrikov)
73 - Ayrton Martino (backup Guillaume Richard, steal from CBJ, imo)
137 - Jake Martin
140 - Cole Jordan
169 - Lorenzo Canonica
178- Marcus Almquist
201- Peter Reynolds

honorable mention from 169 - 201: Jacob Guevin

I'll admit, after 100 I am wayyyyy less studied!

169. Simon Knak
178. Nikita Novikov
201. Jalen Luypen

*9 - Dylan Guenther seems like the no brainer here. Would have still taken Fyodor Svechkov. Feel like Nashville got a bit of a steal considering who went in front of him. Shot does need work but i will stick with my projection of him over Guenther

41 - i really do like the Klimovich pick as he has legit top6 talent. If he was from North America i feel he would have been a top 10-20 pick based on talent but he also would have been scrutinized and had to face better competition. Its definitely a big swing but i like it. Stankoven and Chibrikov would be what i would have expected and ultimately making a decision would have taken Nikita Chibrikov. I like his east west game and has a wicked snipe. Chase Stillman is who i wanted here but NJ really reached and took him 1st round. Kinda thing you can do when you have multiple 1st round picks.

*73 - I only focussed on what i thought to be the top50 or so picks this year and without watching many junior games i think i will just take Ethan Del Mastro due to my exposure. I like his mobility and fundamentals for a big man. Kirsanov would be another i would have liked here.

Yeah I’ll bite

would have been happy with Guenther at 9. I had him at 5.
41. Pinelli
73. Would have loved to get Olsson here but since we missed out by one slot, I’d take Ryder Korczak from Moose Jaw.
137. Jack Bar
140. Cole Jordan. Another Kid from the Moose.
I probably would have used 168 on Lockhart. Like that kid, like the pick.
178. Ryan Mast.
201. Robert Flinton.

9*) - I like Garland and think OEL can rebound enough. I’ll leave this deal here.
41 - would have taken the Kings deal (with Ottawa at 42) and dropped back to 49 and picked up a 5th (136 added).
49 - Ville Koivunen
(73**) - Traded for Dickinson
135 - Jack Bar
137 - Cole Jordan
140 - Ty Voit
169 - Ty Gallagher
178 - Connor Lockhart
201 - Jalen Luypen

Screwy with Zona’s forfeited pick… some sites show it as a slot taken and some don’t… my trade slots may be one off ;)

@Melvin, any way to fire up the potato?

I'd go with Guenther at 9, Stankoven at 41, and the potato picks for the rest.

Well geez, now I have to get off my ass and enter in what all the picks were so I can see who was available. Alright then!

(9*) - Xavier Bourgault (Dylan Guenther basically tied.)
41 - Ryder Korczak
(73**) - Ayrton Martino (exactly who Dallas picked.)
137 - Joshua Roy
140 - Alexander Suvorov
169 - Dmitri Buchelnikov
178 - Avery Hayes
201 - Nikita Bespalov

Thanks for your work Melvin! Always love seeing the Potato results.

Martino at 73 is exactly who I would've picked haha. I like the Roy and Buchelnikov picks; good production in their respective leagues and they are very young draft eligibles (both still 17). Interesting that the model finds another guy from the Belarussian league.

I think there might be a problem with Bespalov. I'm finding a 33 year old on Elite Prospects haha.

Nikita Bespalov - Elite Prospects.

Played in the same league as Danila Klimovich with basically the same production. I definitely treat these Belarus picks with a bit of suspicion as I don't really know how strong that league is compared to other Euro leagues.
