Ours came back today, but the top of the pole was snapped and the transformer was on the street, so IDK if that's a permanent fix. The NES CEO said it could be 2 weeks before everyone gets power restored, but it's gone from 130k customers (out of 400k, so almost 1/3 of Nashville) to about 80k customers in less than 24 hours, so hopefully it's faster than that, and surely at least for the majority.

"Worst" job in the world right now has to be NES customer service/social media specialist.

Got into SW Virginia, can't miss the lush fresh green and plentiful water of springtime.

I’m in Sylvan Park. Was at a friends working on a sewing project when the storms blew through. Came home to the power out. It was still out this morning when I left for work. Wish I had held off going to the grocery store. ☹️

We were out for 4 hours in Blackman last night, same for my mom in Smyrna. My sister in Cane Ridge is still without. It was one of, if not the most sudden outbursts that I can remember.

The weather this morning said there was 72 mph winds, just shy of hurricane force. And likely this caused the largest outtage in NES history, but at the time of reporting that was unconfirmed, idk about MTEMC or CEMC.

Our entire neighborhood is still out in Hermitage--since 4:30, yesterday, as well.

Sister's house in Donelson also out. Son's (also Herm) came back around midnight, daughter in North Nashville never lost power.

I got power back sometime yesterday. It was likely late in the afternoon because all the ice in my freezer melted. (I am still going to work). So I had to toss quite a bit from the fridge.

I will have to do the same, @hockey diva , but as of this afternoon my power was still off. I am not doing that job til I can make use of my disposer. Yuck, I hate grinding up dollar bills!

Sis' power is on, but no internet. I'm at my office at present but will be leaving soon. Wish I could take the cool with me. Ha! Thank goodness it is temperate right now, though.

Thanks!

The closest that I have been is Natural Bridge or White Sulfur Springs. I have been through the Cumberland Gap a long time ago.

Cumberland Gap really changed when 25E which went across the top of the mountains was rerouted through the new tunnel in 1996. I used to go across the top periodically 1985 - 1995, but not once since the entrance was through the Cumberland Gap Historic Park Visitor Center was opened.

I use a composting service so I was able to put some items in my compost bucket which was picked up this morning. Compost Nashville | Compost Nashville if anyone is interested.
I have two compost piles at the house. One just sitting, the other actively being added to. It turns to dirt amazingly fast except for sweet gum balls, which are very sturdy. Right now I have some interesting volunteers coming up in the sitting pile. An onion, a couple of sprigs from the cabbage family (Broccoli? Brussels sprouts? Mustard?) and some sort of squash. Usually they die after a this time frame, probably soil is too rich, but maybe this will be the year.

I looked a Google Maps and wondered why the road seemed to be in the wrong place. Now it all makes sense.

I'm still out both at home and in the countryside around here. Thought I'd share a couple snapshots.

This male Cardinal who's momma told it that "You can do anything if you set your sights on a goal" His goal was to do a hummingbird impersonation.

And a White-eyed Vireo. Spring migration is on like normal, at least something is.

Thanks for the pictures Fossil!

Adzy, there is rowing “gym” (row house) near my home opening up. $99 a month for unlimited classes. Mulling it over since I am not very disciplined at home. I used to row on the water when I lived in Chattanooga in the late 90s.

I have a rowing machine. It was how I lost 40 lbs a few years back. I just need to get my fat buttoxen back on there. I have done it twice this week, need to make sure I get on there 6 out of 7 days and quit eating so many cookies (I call that part my won'tpower--ha!)

Right before all this happened my sister invited me to go to the Y with her--she's a member. I enjoyed it and was all set to join but the virus closed it. So rowing machine it is.

Still working. We've kind of had a mutiny going on as we have been two weeks ahead of schedule for nearly a month and they are still scheduling us on Saturdays. We are far enough ahead that they can't get the stock in before items are due so I'm not sure what they are thinking.

Wife went back to work full time about 2 weeks ago, she had been cut down to about 4 hours a day at one point.

Heading to Ohio this weekend. My mother in law is going through chemo and has some serious complications. They thought she was having strokes at first but have now since decided it's a toxic build up which is causing seizures. All the symptoms are like a stroke but she recovers fully in two to three days.

I'm not that thrilled about going, think its risky for her. However, my wife said she requested I come and I don't feel like I can turn that request down.

Oh, I hope she (and you all) will be all right. That is scary. Safe travels--my thoughts are with you.
