did you have a nice day cherry picking?

25th in all forwards in ice time. ALL forwards. Our players do take short shifts a lot, either Matthews is leaving the ice early if his own accord or much more likely our ridiculous line matching reactive coach is forcing him off for matchup reasons.

Cherry picking, I think we’ve digested what you’ve said prior, just throwing in a little detail omitted. Just because you don’t like it, don’t shoot the messenger.

He’s playing 19.5 a game, right where I want him.

Shift number is so irrelevant though, mins per game is way more important

No it’s not actually, you’re just discounting because it challenges a narrative. And his minutes per game are fine, especially on a team that has depth. Total non issue this year, but have at it, sure you’ll find takers here lol.

Its not that. Ron Wilson team was a world beater too while 10 of us were saying they are going to collapse down the stretch. Yeah the old eye test is sometimes the best test somehow.

Youre on a rocket with no stabilizers. Oh it's moving and its flying eratic but it's going forward alright. Just waiting to get blown in a downward motion by the Jetstream and let it's momentum take it into the Colorado mountains just long enough to say Hi Kadri and explode.

Thought I was editing. My bad, deal

    1) this team doesn’t play like Ron Wilson teams

    2) Ron Wilson never had this level of success in Toronto.

Not sure what you’re getting at. I see a team that is trending in the right direction. Their Give-a-****-o-metre is going up a few notches, and when our specialty teams figure things out, we will have even more success.

I don't know what the name of our system is...but when I see 2 of our players going after the puck several times a game...I think that "system" is either too complicated or the players are just stupid and don't know who to cover. Seriously, take a minute and count the amount of times 2 guys chase the puck carrier in tonights game. Then, just for giggles...count the amount of times we see the opponent sends 2 guys after one of us. You will be shocked that it rarely happens to other teams whilst frequently happens to us.

This system seems to be pressure at all costs and the players are just following what they are told to do...even if it doesn't work well at all. Our D-zone coverage is atrocious because we have our D-men chasing a guy from behind the net all the way up to the blue line...you don't think a team that's skilled like Boston can make you lose your man in those type of situations?

    Great points
    But
    “ team that’s skilled like Boston “
You could say “ a line as skilled as Boston has “ and I think that would be more warranted ....

Yes...you have a point there about the 1 line team called the Bruins.

It's a bad heartless team. If they fix that maybe they can win a round. More in common than you may think, poor team D, inability to get out of their zone for stretches, incomplete 60min games, outscores problems, lots of love for the stretch pass(cheating), rely on tenders, constantly outshot, special teams issues, problems along the wall... lol shall I go on?

I don't know where I read or heard it, but someone was saying AM is not in great shape and didn't really work on fitness in the summer.

By the end of his short shifts, he's gassed. Kinda like Kessel was rumoured to be.

Wish I could find the source, but there ya go.

It would explain the low ice time with normal number of shifts though....

Hey! Great to see the old school assert itself!

I still really like this Leafs team. But they gonna need another forward and another defenseman if they want to be serious contenders for the Cup.

Just get into the playoffs and hope to get lucky.

That worked, for Washington and St. Louis. They got in and finally they got lucky, as those two franchise are preeminent chokers if there were any.

After winning, Washington the very next year gets bounced in the first round. Back to choking. St. Louis, the last time they were in the finals Scotty Bowman was their coach. In the intervening 50 years, choke city and they had some real good teams. Nothing but choke upon choke.

So the Leafs do have a chance. Just need a couple of more bodies.

That is where we come to Dubas. Someone in the front office has to kick the shat out of that punk and knock some sense into him.

I do not think Babcock takes that kid seriously anymore I really don't. How much of the league takes Dubas seriously with all the lateral moves down he has made.

The grass is not greener on the other side of the fence.

If Dubas was not so dumb, I mean the guy is so utterly dumb I do not know how he still has a job. If Dubas was not so dumb, Babcock would be fired.

Development is for the minor leagues.

Otherwise we'll see Sandin and Lilygren in the line up everyday, doing good things, and getting exposed.

Win now. That is the mandate.

So they trade Kadri and replace him with Kerfoot, to win now. :moose:

Can't really argue your points. Pretty much. I am sure he tried to fire Babs and got blocked.

It's amazing being a Leafs fan . . . because history repeats itself.

Harold Ballard had Gerry MaCnamara as his GM and John Brophy was coach.

The GM and coach did not like each other.

MaCnamara wanted to fire Brophy. He went to Mr. Ballard's office to get permission to fire Brophy, only to find the coach was there inside the office chatting with Mr. Ballard.

Eventually, we know who got it first.

Shanahan is bit of a strange cat. He has recreated the exact power struggle from the Ballard era. Guess he could not enough of that shat himself too. Shanahan must be a huge Leafs fan when he was playing in the NHL.

The problem with you, you're too young or inexperience.

Evidence in sports, particularly with data, changes over time.

That point you still cannot see yet.

What data are you even talking about? Is it Babcock not winning a single playoff round in a decade?

I thought Matthews would score like 120 points if he had the same ice time as players like McDavid and Kucherov?

List the coaches that have won a single playoff round in the last decade.

List the coaches that have won a Stanley Cup.

List the coaches that have seen franchise point records.

List the coaches that improved their teams point totals from previous years by 20, 30, 40 points.

List the coaches who can handle the spot light of Toronto and not get flushed like a Carlyle
