Small meaning 5'11" or shorter.

Just wondering which NHL-affiliated prospects around the league fit this criteria. The Pens in particular have had a lot of success digging up hidden gems by prioritizing these attributes and worrying less about size and physical play.

Let's eliminate 1st round picks so the thread doesn't focus on the most well-known guys.

What do you mean by tenacious? I've been high on Jon Berggren (Sweden, Drafted by DET, 33rd 2018) since December. He has that Crosby/Zetterberg quality of being hard on pucks and working to get it back if he loses it.

He's about 5'10" and 180 lbs.

That's pretty much it. Never quit attitude.

Cam Hillis (66th overall in 2018) comes to mind.

Listed at 5'10" and 168 lbs.

Trevor Timmins (former Director of Amateur Scouting and current Assistant GM) described him as the "little engine that never stops" following the draft.

For the Habs, Fonstad would stand out. He's about 150 Lbs at 5'10, but he's an amazing player, love him and I'm thrilled that the Habs drafted him.

Same for Hillis.

Adam Mascherin fit the bill? Not the best IQ, but he is small and he has a strong motor and great shot.

A name you are going to hear A LOT about this year is Cole Caufield. Very controversial because of his size.
Height: 5'6
Weight: 150 ibs

"top 10 talent, 7th round size"
- Craig Button

Skating is really really good, IQ is amazing, goal scoring is tops
I mean he scored 54 goals in 59 games last season in the NTDP between the U17 squad and U18

Luckily for Cole, Debrincat had a good rookie season. Should help solidify his draft standing a lot.

If he could grow just a little more and make it to maybe like 5'8 I think teams would really consider him early in the first. That't not to say that at 5'6 he can't make an impact at the NHL level, but those extra inches would certainly help.

Yeah I agree
But its funny that he is in the exact kind of situation that debrincat was in with Strome & McDavid

Scouts are going to question how much it is caulfield, and how much it is Jack Hughes (future linemate) who is really driving the line.

Ty Ronning.
7th round NYR draft pick
he’s 5’9
Had 61 goals in 70 games in the WHL
Plays an aggressive game with a nonstop motor. Solid IQ. Game reminds me a bit of Callahan. Did well in his short AHL stint
Could be a good bottom sixer who can put up 20 goals and 15 assists. If we didn’t have so much forward depth I’d have him as a dark horse to make the team. Should be on the team after this year though
