according to the rumours, in the newly created International Hockey League with Slovenian, Croatian and Serbian teams

Taken from Eurohockey.com

Seems to be talked about that the new league will be formed with an €800 entry fee. News comes after HK Beograd are no longer in the Hungarian MOL Liga

League will have basically the same teams as last year. Good thing is that there is some effort on marketing field and establishing a name for a league, but I don't expect a rise in quality (compared to last year). Quality of hockey there would be kind of D2A, way lower than MOL. Anyway, with some marketing hopefully it will rise to former Slohokej's glory.

p.s. It was funny when the entry fee was 5000 €, I mean, come on... all teams together would hardly collect that kind of money.

It's a beer league so no real marketing effort has been made, statistics can be found on hokej.si and they are updated day after a game.

On hokej.si you can find live scores when games are played (but usually they are not played according to schedule, you have to follow team's facebook pages to know correct dates of games and probably the best source of related information), video2go.live sometimes has live transmissions of matches on youtube, mostly Bled and Triglav... and that's about that, nobody really is interested in this league and it's a shame that hockey fell so low here.

Sorry for all the negativity, feel free to ask further questions

The sports culture in the region is pretty diverse, that's not bad for hockey. But having an ambassador like Kopitar also in the future would be good.

Is there any information about this league yet? I may be vacationing in Slovenia in early October and was looking for a schedule, but can't seem to locate one. The individual team sites only seem to list games a couple weeks in advance.

I'd just suggest keeping an eye on some of the bigger teams websites. I've just checked too and its as you say, just a few months in advanced so far.

check the dates a week upfront on hokej.si (in a dark gray header area, where scores are, future matches are designated with blue color and text "Napovedana" - scheduled) or team facebook/web pages. After that they usually don't change date/time of a match.

HK Sisak (un)suprisingly won group south, qualified for playoffs and in first game of placement round they beat Triglav 3:1.
Sisak having their indoor rink (finally) and paying players with average croatian monthly pay-cheque is paying for them in a big way since they dominated all Zagreb's teams (unimaginable even last season). Win over Triglav just proved results in first round weren't fluke.
They are first favourites to win Croatian league this season which is going to be milestone for our hockey, as title might leave Zagreb for the first time ever.

Are there any indoor rinks in cakovec , varazdin and Osijek ?
No, not even outdoor dedicated ice hockey rinks. Only temporary ice skating surfaces as a part of the Christmas markets for 1 month. Cakovec not even that.

What’s going on with the Croatian league 2022/2023?
Nothing special, they play IHL weekends and usually monday/tuesday the national league.

In December 2020. city of Osijek adopted 10 year strategic plan for the development of sport (2020-2030). In this plan current open ice rink called "Sokolski dom", will be reconstructed, covered, ice will be standard 60x30 meters. Start date of construction is 2024. and 2026. is a deadline.

Croatian league - Nothing too exciting is going on, four rounds are played (12 rounds this season) only mini surprises are two Sisak's defeats in a row. Which is not that surprising considering the amount of injuries that started to pile up after 2nd round of CC.

Why? Way too much travel for amateurs with a massive drop in skill between Slovenian teams and for example Bosnian or Bulgarian.

Even the current format with SLO-CRO-SRB is pushing it, but necessary.

I'd assume the thinking is because in some places you are never going to get a real league set up to improve things, say Bulgaria or Bosnia where only 1 city may be able to operate a small level team.

If you could do that on a regional basis, then it could work. Look at the ABA basketball league, for example.

Obviously it'd be a real pain for an all amateur team, though, as you point out.
