Joona Lehmus comes to mind. Liked him in the U16 and U17 National teams past 2 years. Small but good skating and mobile puck carrying defensman a poor mans Eemil Viro. Offensive production is a red flag but I think there might be some veeery long term upside

Isaak Phillips, LHD, Sudbury OHL

Tall defender that can skate, shoot and pass. To me he’s a 1st round talent, but probably falls to the second or third round.

I did not see a thread for this yet and I'm always interested in the collective board's view on sleeper's for June's draft. Don't bother posting if someone is likely to go in the top 45 picks, you guys know who is flying under the radar, let's hear from you:

Thanks

Basically every fan of their teams 2nd round picks and beyond in 4 months.

I wanted to add another player. Jacob Truscott. Wasn't impressed last season. Very impressed this season.

Noah Grannan is another player who the same applies to, although he's a lower caliber of player. There are still a few other goalies I'd list before him, so I don't want to expand the sleeper list too much to include him, but he fits into the category with Truscott of NTDP players I wasn't impressed with last season that I am impressed with this season.

My top 3 would be:
Ronan Seeley
Brett Berard
Jack Finley

Seeley and Finley are doing their best to get noticed since I identified them as sleepers.

Finley has 2 assists in two games and has 33/44 face-off wins.

Seeley has played in 4 games and has 4 assists (thanks to 3 last night) and has not been on the ice for a single 5-on-5 goal against in those four games.

More Boom or Bust than sleeper.

Evan Vierling. Went 2nd overall behind Byfield in the 18 OHL draft. Then had some problems in Flint—who knows if it was attitude or typical challenges faced by 16-year-old in new situation. In any event, after being traded to Barrie he produced like a first rounder. He has near elite talent, yet is being ranked/mocked in the 4th.

I could add a bunch, but will start with these two that I believe are significantly undervalued:

1. Sam Colangelo, RW, Chicago Steel. Size, speed, shot. Got better as year went on. Often reminds me of David Pastrnak type player. Appears on most lists as 2nd/3rd rounder. Should be a 1st rounder.

2. Ian Moore, RHD, St. Marks School (US Prep). Harvard commit has drawn a lot of scouts in 2nd half of season. Plays two-way game, great awareness/maturity with puck, great skating. If I had to come up with a player comp... Jacob Bernard-Docker comes to mind. Appears on many lists as later rounder, should be 2nd/3rd rounder.

William Villeneuve didn't make Bob McKenzie's top 62 mid term list (and was not even a honorary mention) yet he is

1st in points for all QMJHL Defensemen
1st in points per game for all QMJHL defenseman
March 2002 birthday
Good underlying numbers

But he didn't play at the Hlinka, because that's what counts.

Basically, any prospect who has drastically increased their results in the 2nd half is a potential sleeper - meaning that they will be drafted higher than most of the current rankings. The list below shows some of those (wasn't able to get game by game results for Finland or Sweden) prospects on the rise. I have also noted in a separate list which of these I believe are likely to still go significantly higher than their current rankings at the draft. I would add Joni Jurmo to the list of sleepers below although I don't have any game by game details on him. Note: The NHL rankings are combined from their 4 lists. BM stands for Bob McKenzie's mid-season poll of scouts.

He also played for the Sea Dogs lets keep that in mind.

What's the deal with Sam Colangelo being rated #63? 58 points, +32 in 44 games for Chicago Steel of the USHL. 6'2" RW. Reading his scouting report he sounds a lot like Mark Stone. I just started looking up this kid's highlights because of this thread and he's looking like he could be the kind of top 9RWer that is tough to play against in all areas of the ice and he's got a great wrist shot to boot. Originally I was hoping that the Wings would pick JJ Peterka with one of their late 2nds but now I'm kind of hoping that Colangelo falls to us in the 48-63 range.

Is there a precedent for the late risers having nhl success closer to their year-long results or 2nd half?
