Cole was born 15 years after JFK's assassination.

The perfect alibi.

And that's his right when he has an NMC (damn you Rutherford) excluding all but 5 teams. My guess is that list probably looked something like Buffalo, Toronto, Ottawa (3 teams closest to home), Pittsburgh (awww hell naw) and who the hell knows on #5... probably Detroit or Washington (similarly hell naw on the Caps).

Detroit's about as far away from TO as Ottawa is.

Semantics. He didn't have to "veto" anything; he had a NMC. He had to *approve* any trade. "Would you approve a trade to L.A.?" "No." This does not constitute a veto; it's a lack of approval.

Again, it’s not semantics because Cole very clearly said there were offers on the table that Skinner vetoed. Either he misspoke, he misunderstood, or he misrepresented. Pick your favorite. All three are a bad thing for an official team representative who’s on WRAL talking about the trade/contract status of a current player.

Semantics. There were offers on the table that Skinner failed to waive his NMC for. Cole referred to it as a veto. It was simply failure to respond.

Do you know something we don’t? Cole was very straightforward in what he said.

If you invite your friend to dinner and they don’t respond, you don’t go around telling people that your friend nixed your plans.
