He would be excellent at it and we kind of need someone to do it anyways.

Top 9 forwards in no particular order:
Crosby
Malkin
Iginla
Neal
Kunitz
Morrow
Dupuis
Sutter
Cooke

Now the problem is that you've got three spots left and you've got to somehow justify keeping two guys - Adams and Glass - who basically contribute nothing beyond killing penalties. Bennett and Kennedy have both been better than either of those guys. The right answer has to be scratching one of Adams or Glass but then you've got quite a few minutes to fill on the PK. Crosby would be a great choice for this role. His quickness, his hands and his faceoffs would all come in handy and he's more dangerous than anyone else on the team when it comes to breakaway threat.

There's also no need to be concerned about the power play. We can now field a powerful first unit that doesn't even need to have Sid on it. Iginla and Malkin opposite each other on the half boards, Morrow or Kunitz in the crease, Martin and Letang on the points. Sid can still work a second unit with reduced minutes that includes Neal, Kunitz or Morrow, Niskanen and Despres or Orpik.

He does kill penalties. If he's put out there, it's usually in the last 30 seconds are so, or to take a defensive zone face-off. Honestly , that's about as much as I want him out there. I'd hate to see him get hurt from blocking a shot.

Malkin is the one we really should have out there. Teams would be terrified to pass across him like they were Mario
