Last year for the NBA draft lottery they started giving their bottom 3 teams the exact same 14% odds of winning the 1st overall pick.

So is this something the NHL should consider doing for the bottom three teams when it comes to their draft lottery?

No. It should be based on points %.

So, Detroit should have had a a greater % for 1st OA.

The whole point of the lottery is to prevent tanking. Buffalo would've won like 2 games in 2014-15 if this was the case.

In theory I like the idea but teams would definitely make sure that the NHL would change it quite quickly.

Bottom 5 teams should be the only teams in the lottery with the last place team getting slightly higher odds.

Don't think it really makes a difference one way or another. Hence - I voted no. Detroit had bigger odds than Ott or SJ (Ott) this year, but not by much really.
