Tyrväinen and Björninen aren’t NHL material and Hartikainen has already stated he isn’t interested in coming to NHL anymore at his age.

For me the interesting ones are Sergei Tolchinsky, Konstantin Okulov, Simon Ryfors and Arvid Soderblom.

Nah, komarov is done. tyvräinen is in his prime.
Tyrväinen is only 3 years younger than Komarov. Komarov was also better in every aspect of hockey than current Tyrväinen is, the idea that he would be NHL level player is quite honestly absurd.

He really impressed me in SHL, EHT and WC. He is a machine who is strong, hard hitting and very good defensivly and can chip in offensivly too. I think he would do a good job in a checking role in NHL.

Yeah he is that in the SHL, one of the least physical leagues in the world. NHL is way different and Tyrväinen isn’t NHL level at any aspect of the game.

SHL not being very physical league is not a problem, u should know that with the amount of players who gone from SHL to be good NHLers. Even if SHL is not that physical of a league there is no doubt a decent amount of players in SHL that has NHL physiciality. Tyrväinen is one of them for sure. He also showed his strength and hard hitting game in EHT, Liiga and WC.

watch from 2:16...

I’ve literally seen Tyrväinen play hundreds of times, and there is nothing he does on a NHL level, absolutely nothing.

He is a good Euro player, that compensates his lack of high-end skills with hustle and strength, both which would be below average in NHL.

Do you think Peter Tiivola can make NHL?

If I recall correctly, Shipachyov (34 years old now) is under that same weird clause that Kovalchuk was when he voluntarily retired to return to the KHL. The Devils held Kovalchuk's rights until he was 35. There were some rumblings that Kovalchuk wanted to return for 2017-18, but there were some CBA hoops to jump through so he waited until 2018-19 when he was 35. Although I suppose the other teams wouldn't make too much effort to block Shipachyov from returning.

On the other hand, Shipachyov seemed to have a pretty negative experience from his short time in North America so he might not be clamoring to come back.

Shipachyov's contract was terminated in 17-18, so he's free to return to whichever NHL team he wants.

Vadim Shipachyov Retirement Official

According to Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Vadim Shipachyov’s deal with the NHL is official. After a negotiation between the NHL and NHLPA, Shipachyov will retire from the league and pay back almost all of his $2MM signing bonus. He’ll move to the voluntary retirement list and his full contract will be cleared from the Golden Knights salary cap. His NHL rights will be retained by Vegas until he turns 35, but will now be allowed to seek out a new contract in the KHL.

The two sides didn’t seek a mutual termination, because Shipachyov would have first needed to pass through waivers and then could have technically been signed by another team in the league. Obviously, the Golden Knights didn’t want to lose the asset to another team for nothing, so a different agreement was made. Like Ilya Kovalchuk, Shipachyov’s retirement will keep him out of the NHL for at least five years though it’s more likely that he’ll never return.

I guess I just missed that part of the saga. They were originally going to mutually terminate or trade him a week prior.

Yeah, definitely was an odd case as had been the thing with Kovalchuk beforehand. We thought we were done with Kovalchuk after he retired in 2013, but for a brief moment in 2017, we thought we could trade his rights for something but it never got that far.

Any thoughts on Emil Pettersson from those who have seen the SHL this year? Believe the Coyotes still hold his rights but he has expressed an interest in returning to North America next season.

I didn't think Björninen was NHL material, but I think he could be efficient. He's really good at faceoffs and could bring a good hustle to a fourth line.

If you're thinking true sleepers watch the German goalie Felix Brueckmann who is playing against the USA today.

Saw him as a teenager in an international tournament (ironically on the same team as Victor Hedman). Has always flown under the radar but puts up outstanding numbers in the DEL (and very high competitive and poise levels).
