Currently theres 20 clubs in the English Premier League
but until 94-95, there were 22 clubs.

Should EPL expand back to 22?
- i think they should

We all know EPL is the best league in the world

It's the richest, with richest owners, so
there's the biggest market as well.

EPL has more star players what any league in the world,
its TV ratings / streaming ratings are the highest in the world,
everyone, everywhere EPL is followed.

English Football Association 2nd tire league;
Championship i think, is top 8 league in Europe. (somewhere around there)
- this season, its one of the strongest its ever been.

I think the time is right to go back to 22 clubs.

TBH I would rather not open the doors to more teams.

I would potentially be interested in a 22-team league if they did something interesting with relegation/promotion. The bottom 5 are relegation spots, last place goes straight down, and the other 4 in the drop zone do a 1 game playoff for survival.

Combine that with more teams= more games. Which is already the epl has an issue with. Along with teams such as Forrest/Norwich being so crap there’s really no point

Oh, I mean there are plenty of arguments against that I can think of. But I'm not going to spend mental capacity on them until I see an at least slightly cogent one in favour

Re-reading, it kind of sounds like the argument is so that more rich owners have teams to buy up and spend their money on? Which, yeah

Not sure about expansion but I'd love to see something like

Friday game at 20h
Saturday games at 14h, 16h, 18h, 20h
Sunday games at 14h, 16h, 18h, 20h
Monday game at 20h

Stop playing multiple games at the same time ffs

The only way they could reasonably expand the PL would be to ditch the league cup entirely. Even in a non-WC, non-COVID year, the top English teams are already crazy busy with it not being uncommon to play twice a week for nearly 3 months straight. Adding another 4 league games to the schedule just isn't feasible.

I don't see any benefit to adding 4 more games. Not to mention further splitting revenue, as I don't think clubs 21 & 22 are really doing anything on their own to make up the difference.

As cool an idea as it is, every league has their standard game times, the PL's are already spread out more than in a lot of leagues
