He implied because of Marner's usage (he was slumping and got a brief demotion to the 4th line) that he wasn't a long-term fit for the Leafs, and should be traded. Marner was the exact same age as Laine was when this happened. It is why people question his insight, even if the first fact he based it off of is somewhat correct.
Marner and Laine are different people. Just because he said something similar before doesn't make him wrong.

i don't know who thought it was a good idea to take a guy who got hit in the head and even fell on his head repeatedly over the course of his career and turn him into an "analyst".... but BOO that man.

Forwards for sure.

I doubt that I'll get agreement from Jets fans but I'd propose something like this:

To Edmonton: Laine
To Winnipeg: Nurse, 2019 1st unprotected, McLeod and Yamamoto

How far off am I?
Very.

Winnipeg, MB
Power-play specialist who has....

...MOST even-strength goals at Winnipeg Jets on last 3 seasons.

Even strength goals from 2016 to 2019:
1. Laine 65
2. Scheifele 57
3. Ehlers 56
4. Wheeler 42
5. Connor 40

And 9 players in whole NHL (McDavid, Ovechkin, Matthews, Skinner, Kane, Kucherov, Tavares, Crosby, Tarasenko) has more even strength goals than Laine from the period Laine has been in NHL.

MYTH BUSTED.

Ps. These are still crazy ****ing overall statistics even though he has struggled for 2 months.

Good catch. I'll add that Laine was 16th in the entire NHL in even strength points during his rookie season.

This is Laine guys he will score 5 goals in a game then not a single goal in 2 weeks. He is your typical goal scorer.

Nick Kypreos makes things up in his head then believes them to be true and tries to convince others he has sources.
Kypreos is the definition of total and complete nonsense . Still waiting for the Malkin trade he said would happen and that was years ago .

Patrik Laine will still be with the Winnipeg Jets years from now just as Malkin is still in Pittsburgh.

I think a shorter term deal actually makes a lot of sense. Like 3 years at 6M or something. Just gives everyone time to figure out what kind of player he will really be.

I def see the Jets trading Laine TBH. Once Matthews and Marner sign for sick money, Laine is going to want the same 11.5 or 12.5 a pop, and he's not worth that IMO. I don't see the Jets paying him that money.

Well Kypreos got his wish and suckered a bunch of people....The fartbag got his own thread and got people talking about his ludicrous claim. It's pretty embarassing SportsNet would even publish that.

Kypreos is an idiot.

That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if they trade him. I think the jets know what they have and Kypreos is right, he’s not a guy you give huge contract to. He’s a complimentary player right now. Fourth best winger on the team.

You're right. Hes not a guy you give a huge contract
Which is probably why he wont and will have to sign a 2 year bridge or they sign him long term for something similar to what ehlers got

But Dreger's offersheet talk to Marner is 100% legit.

Speculation from Kypreos lol. This has less value than Milan Lucic does in a trade

I was thinking less value then Chia trades but that just isn't true as the team Chia is dealing with gets great value . I heard a rumour or maybe it is someone speculating that Ottawa may hiring him . I hope so maybe Edmonton can recoup some of their losses
