Shanahan shouldn't be given another chance. He can't be trusted to find the right guy. His track record is proof enough of that.

Might be awkwardly worded, but since the Leafs are on the hook for his money the next two years, so they might retain the ability to control negotiations at least to a degree.

For example, with regards to Babcock, I was led to believe that they would not give permission for him to work elsewhere unless the other team was willing to pay his full salary (can't quite remember the source of that, but I believe it was one of the main media podcasts)
