Ignored it when I tore my groin playing basketball. I was sprinting like hell with the ball then suddenly stopped. My big toe nail exploded in my shoe so that was my immediate concern. Lots of blood.
But, but... how did that happen? How the sudden stop led to that? That's horrible! :(

My shoe stopped but my foot inside the shoe didn't. The sudden force of my toe trying to eject itself from the end of the shoe caused enough pressure on the toe nail for it to rip right off. It's the same momentum you get when a car suddenly stops but you're still ejected forward, except it's your foot inside an enclosed shoe. It was extraordinarily painful.

I've played a lot of sports in my time. My worst injuries were always from basketball. All the sprinting & sudden stops, jumping, I had to stop playing because of chronic shin splits. I can't jump anymore. So now I hike, bike, occasionally play baseball, swim, nothing that puts too much strain on the lower legs.

The toe nail grew back.

Kypreos is full of it, they know damn well you can’t MRI the affected area if Swollen, they had no idea if it was tendon related.
You can. Actually, you do MRIs to confirm there is swelling too.
Anyways, moot point.

They didn’t know it was an ankle sprain until the doctor told him so.

If you feel pain in the general area of where you had major surgery, you probably want to confirm that it is indeed a sprain and not an aggravation of your previous injury.

Weber should be back for the final2weeks of the season

I'm glad you are sure, because I'm not. We'll talk again the final two weeks of the season.

They may shut him down but I fully expect him to be back in September worst case scenario.

This entire his career is over chatter is eye roll worthy

4 - 6 weeks is through mid March to the end of the season. Me finds it hard to believe he plays another game this year. After that, who knows? Maybe I missed it. Was there a specific event recently that caused this most recent injury?

people can think Kypreos is full of it all they want, reality is without his tweet, Habs would still be signing "at least a week" right now.

Transparency.
And I think it would be wise for people to wait for the end of the "4-6 weeks" before dunking on Kypreos too hard. Drouin was supposed to be back a month ago.

Kypreos does deserve some blame for the "his future in question" part of his tweet. It was careless and was bound to cause an overreaction. He got the attention he wanted, but it was a disservice to the Habs organization and fans to cause such a commotion.

Career over? Maybe for the average player this would be a career ending injury but he’s a Mountain Man.

A few weeks and he will be back to normal.

Retirement is always gonna come up when an old player gets an injury with a mid long term recovery. Also, rehab takes longer the older you get. I get that people are mad at this but IMO Habs need to tell more to the media so that speculation stops being meaningful, as hockey fans crave for the information.

The Habs need all our veterans to raise their compete levels another notch, that's asking players that give 100% to find more somewhere. Experience is earned this is where players earn that in times when the Boss can't be on the job, Get it Done don't forget to finish everything properly is my advice or we might lose some jobs.(Playoffs for instance!!!...o_Oo_Oo_O)

WOW

If Shea Weber's injury forces him to retire, #Flyers Paul Holmgren may have ended the #Preds , Cap penalties if Weber retires by year:

20-21 NSH $4.1M + MTL $762K
21-22 NSH $4.91M + MTL $543K
22-23 NSH $6.14M + MTL $215K
23-24 NSH $8.19M
24-25 NSH $12.29M
25-26 NSH $24.57M

Don't know about 'ending'. Montreal has been voluntarily operation with 8+ M cap space for last 3 seasons.

24/25 and 25/26 they are probably going to be in rebuild mode anyways and makes me wonder if that cap penalty counts to get to the floor minimum. Could be a dream tank scenario for owners of not needing to pay anyone to get to floor.

Injuries don't force a player to retire. The decision to retire or not is 100% on the player. Injuries can force a player to finish his career on the LTIR. To be honest if Weber can't play anymore and retires instead of going on the LTIR it means he doesn't give a **** about Nashville. He'll grab the remaining money imo.

I can pretty much guarantee in that situation the NHL will rework the rules just like they reworked the Devil's penalty for circumventing the cap.

Do you guys think that if next CBA has a buyout window again that Nashville would move assets to get Weber back just to buy him out? I feel like based on those cap hits it would be your only way to mitigate risk
