Yeah but Marleau is basically one half of the duo that legitimized an NHL franchise.

Boughner was always a bridge to someone better when the time is right.Deboer is 10 times the coach BB is. 2 Cup finals and probably a cup this year. It was time for Deboer to go but we downgraded. However if we want Wright and Bedard then bringing BB and Jones back would help.
If guys like Paul Kariya could, absolutely
Kariya was a more gifted scorer than Marleau and certainly more dynamic offensively. Marleau has played 800 more games than Kariya. The hall of fame isn’t exclusively about points or dynamic ability at your peak. Marleau has maintained a level of play in the NHL for longer than any other player. He has been a top 6 forward for like 15-20 years. That’s bonkers. Maintaining that level for that long is a huge accomplishment. There are so many who were much better at their peaks, but Marleau has been a constant for longer than basically anyone. Let’s not diminish that because his peak wasn’t as good as others. That’s a terrible name to drop if you’re gonna make that argument. Marleau is not anywhere near the player Kariya was.
Kariya also never became the player he could be because he couldn’t keep from getting hurt. That’s a terrible name to drop if you’re gonna make that argument. Marleau was never the player Kariya was.
