County bans physical contact sports for next 3 weeks. (College and pro football scrambling to relocate immediately games or have to forfeit. SJSU had nationally broadcast football game today that got canceled hours before kick off. )

The sharks should look into Portland if they need a temporary home. The moda center has a decent hockey configuration unlike Utah or any other arena in the bay area.

I can see them relocating to Orange County or Las Vegas since they have the facilities. NHL arena and state of art practice facilities. The 49ers have already moved their games to Glendale.

Coyotes are working out at Gila River Arena now. There’s enough room for the Sharks to come in with plenty of hotel space near the arena. The Renaissance right next to GRA however is occupied by the 49ers while they use State Farm Stadium next door.

Sharks GM presser (video) - nearly 30 minutes.

Team "meeting" in San Jose December 30, and open camp 12/31 in Arizona. Unknown what situation will be with games until first, schedule released and then talking with the health officials going forward about home games. Might have to play in hub or other NHL city.

Sharks are going to hold camp at the Scottsdale Ice Den (the Coyotes practice facility). Yotes are using GRA for workouts ATM but the ice sheet is getting rebuilt tomorrow (new center logo, etc)

Not sure why the Sharks would rather train in Arizona than Southern California.

Decent chance that Southern California sees additional restrictions in the coming weeks. You have to imagine the Ducks and Kings have backup plans should they have to relocate camp as well.

Slightly better Covid #s

1 out of 100 people test positive for covid in Southern California in the last week. The numbers are rocketing and show no signs of stabilizing despite the already tight rules. Crazy times.

SJSU has been out of the county for months. Last weekend, they won the Mountain West conference championship (playing "at home" in Las Vegas. UNLV's old Sam Boyd Stadium).

They came home for Christmas. To see family members they haven't seen in months, etc. Guys have been really good about safety protocols.

Now there is outrage that they might not spend the full "quarantine" time in the county before leaving again for bowl game.

One way of looking at this is that the university and county have different interpretations of quarantining.

Lots of politics to be "played" before the Sharks can play "at home" again.

(Regardless of the other thread where Friedman speculates that the Sharks might set up shop in KC, Bettman has said that any relocated team would be in a NHL rink. I think that SoCal or even Vegas or Arizona would be better as it "feels" closer to the Bay Area than Missouri.)

A number of players invited to camp may NOT be in Sj long enough for the ten day quarantine requirement, so are going directly to Arizona for camp.

A number of Sharks players from Europe have arrived in Arizona. (Rather than having to deal with the county quarantine.)
