San Jose, California - The San Jose Sharks had a press conference this after noon to announce the signing of Top Line winger Patrick Elias to a 2-year deal, terms of the deal were not disclosed. "We are very excited to have Patrick locked up for the next couple of years, he is a very skilled player and fits well within our team" said GM David Astles at the press conference. Patrik could not be located for comment, word has it he was at a day spa working in his new found wealth.

In other Sharks news the team has announced that Pavol Demitra will be allowed to test the free agent market come seasons end. "We looked at our team closely when negotiating with Pavol, he's a talented player but when it came down to it we just weren't sure if we had the resources right now to make that large monetary commitment. We will most likely make him an offer during the free agency period as well though, we have to see how the rest of the season goes and look at other team contracts."

In the coming months the Sharks will look to re-sign defensemen Jaroslav Spacek, Hal Gill and Craig Rivet. It is unsure if the team will make offers to all three but look for them to lock up atleast 1.
