I think it just depends on where your priorities lie for a first round opponent. Calgary may be very skilled at the top end and on the blue line but they are not a very taxing team to play against. Vegas has more skill throughout their lineup and play a heavy game that will tax you regardless of how it ends. But that kind of team gets harder and harder to play against the deeper you go in the playoffs. If the Sharks have to play Vegas, I'd prefer it to be in the first round when they are their healthiest. I doubt there is any scenario in which the Sharks don't meet Vegas in the first round and also don't meet them in the second round. Vegas is winning their first round matchup if it's not against the Sharks.
