I'm going to be cautiously optimistic here with Korenar because we've been on the other side of making some goalies look good. He's earned a chance to be one of the 2 goalies next year, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Don’t say eye test when you mean points
The analytics suggest he has basically been a league average forward for two years now. Prior to that they suggested he was one of the most underrated players in the league and perhaps our best.
It’s tough to reconcile those two things or say what that means for him going forward but I’d like to give him a chance elsewhere.

I think he was seen as a controlled zone entry monster two years ago (and I think there's a lot of support for the idea of controlled zone entries leading to dangerous offense), and he's still entering the zone with the puck a fair amount - he's just not doing anything useful once he's there now. That might be part of the explanation.

Meier strikes me as a good guy to have in a Stanley Cup competing team because he plays well when other players around him are good. He’s not a mentor and he’s not a driver of play on his own so I think he gets exposed on a team like this.
On the other hand, Kane seems to really thrive on being The Guy and has really raised his game.

But with a .880SV%. Sharks should have won that game but the skaters allowed too many shots and failed to pursue the puck too much.
Couture was mostly worthless last night.

I might be completely wrong, but I get the sense something happened in the locker room last year that has made Meier hate playing on the team. Half of his shifts look like when Pierre-Luc Dubois got called out then traded.

Okay, I'll agree on that...for all four of the games he's played for us!
Korenar shows potential but can't tell if he's going to be good or he just looks better than what we've been icing between the pipes. It's really hard to measure any goalie playing behind the D we're playing right now.
Right now, the whole organization seems to just be trying to get through each game and get to the end of the season...
Korenar looks motivated to play, but his positioning is pretty weak. He makes some athletic saves and has good recovery, but needs a LOT of seasoning. Positioning and his ability to see point shots is AHL level right now.

I thought his positioning was fine. It's the puck tracking that was really rough. I do think we're thinking about the same issues overall though.
