I’m sure something similar to this has been done before but for anyone that has seen what they’ve done on TSN for the all time Canadian teams, we should try to do the same for the Sharks using the same criteria.

TSN All-Time Team Eligibility Criteria

□ Team: two goalies, six defencemen, 12 forwards and one foundational player
□ Members must have played at least 225 regular season games with the Sharks
□ At least one member of the all-time team must be from the 2019-20 Sharks
□ Players are slotted in positions they played with the Sharks
□ One line must be comprised of defensive standouts, aka a checking line
□ One pair must be comprised of suffocating defenders, aka a shutdown pair
□ Lines and pairs are put together because they fit together, not because they are necessarily the first, second and third best at their positions
□ Foundational players are defined as players part of the fabric – the DNA – of a franchise
□ Last cuts by position are exactly as advertised, the players who just missed selection to the all-time team

i'll take a shot:

Marleau - Thornton - Pavelski
Clowe - Couture - Nolan
Sturm - Ricci - Grier (221 games played, but i'm counting it)
Friesen - Damphousse - Cheechoo

Vlasic - Braun
Rathje - Burns
Murray - Boyle

Nabokov - Niemi

Is Murray really our third best LD? That's kind of sad.

I think this is close. I’d swap Vlasic and Hannan. 44-61 was an awesome shutdown pair for a few years. Also, I’d pick Sutter over TMac as coach.

Pavs and Marleau are weird due to their positions changing over their career with SJ.

Both could be wingers or centers...

Well, the criteria for selecting players kinda led me to choosing Murray. Boyle needed to be on there, and he and Murray, to my memory, were awesome together, so i paired them up. That's also why I put Vlasic and Braun together, and how the rest of my lines ended up. Chemistry is a factor, according to the rules

This lineup right here. Only changes I’d make is to swap Pavs and Cheechoo because of the Jumbo-Cheech connection. Swap out Rathje for Ragnarsson, Sundstrom for Clowe, and Sutter behind the bench for Koala.

Assuming "all-time" means we don't care as much about speed:

Hertl-Thornton-Cheechoo
Clowe-Couture-Nolan
Friesen-Damphousse-Pavelski
Marleau-Ricci-Sundstrom

Vlasic-Braun
Rathje-Burns
Stuart-Boyle

Nabokov, gonna cheat and add Irbe

Wilson in the FO
Sutter behind the bench

Rathje has to be on this list. Raggs and him were part of a very effective shut down pair for quite a while. Jagr once said he hated playing SJ because Rathje was the hardest defensemen to play against due to his size and skating ability. Dude was 6'6"" and like 240lbs. He had a rough start because people wanted him to hit but once he found his game under Sutter he was a monster out there.

Some of these lists don't have Friesen either. Don't know how you can have Seto or Korky (who I love) over Friesen.

This needs to be thrown out. By definition it allows a lesser player on the list which frankly doesn't make sense if it's an all time team. Braun should never be part of this roster yet by this criteria he would make it due to his time with peak Vlasic.

Surprised that Setoguchi has not made onto any list so far (except for Teal Town's list in the link).

Also surprised that Niemi has made an appearance here, often too. I thought you guys hated him. I would have gone with Greiss over Niemi in the backup role, but he doesn't have the number of games in the Sharks' organization. I think about 185 games total.

However, an exception should probably be made for backup goalies because most won't meet the minimum number of games. Thus, Niemi.

Seto's best contribution to the team was netting Burns. Goalies should be Nabby, Jones, Irbe. No one else. Irbe should probably be the foundational player.
