Line changes in general have been a weak spot for the Blues for several years now, even going back to the Hitchcock days.
How many Too Many Men on the Ice penalties have we had the last 5 years?
Way too many. It seemed much worse under Yeo. I feel like the long change is what killed us in OT in game 4.

I wonder how much of an emotional hangover Winnipeg will have. If the. Lies come out hard and score first, I think we may see the Jets start to play out of system and unravel. I want to see the Blues with the eye of the Tiger Saturday. Go home and finish it off.

Maybe it’s just being conditioned to wait for the hammer to drop, but I really doubt we get a poor game from the Jets. I expect what we got game 4.

I just expect us to handle the forecheck better, so that we don’t get ourselves sucked into that spiral of desperately chipping the pucks up the boards or flipping it out to the neutral zone repeatedly, and actually handle the pressure with more poise.

Went to the locker room after the Byfuglien hit on the Schenn goal.
He went down awkwardly, crashed hard into the net and hit the end boards at an angle.

Hopefully he was just winded and the trainers were being overly cautious, but we'll have to wait for an update.

Sundqvist appeared to be holding an ice bag on his hip when the team went into the locker room after the game. He looked okay.

He's showing us why the Penguins decided to draft him this season.

Fun fact, the Blues have 3 players from the 3rd round of the 2012 NHL Draft. MacEcheron (67th overall) Sunqvist (81st), and Parayko (86th)

Also while the first round of that draft was pretty bad, and the 2nd is also horrid, the list of players that fell through the cracks late in that draft is giant.

Forwards of note from round 3 or later
Jimmy Vesey, Josh Anderson, Andreas Athanasio, Connor Brown

Defensemen
Adam Pelech, Esa Lindell, Shayne Ghostibehere, Colton Parayko, Jacoob Slavin, Ben Hutton, Colin Miller

Goalies
Matt Murray, Frederik Anderson, Connor Hellebyck

That D and G combo is great.

Just goes to show that the true gems, are not always in the first round.

I saw this posted on Redditafter game 4

So after game 5 you can see that our 3 goals were scored on the doorstep like they should be. Just liked what I saw about our drive to the net last game.

I think this goes 7.

Blues lay an egg on Saturday.

Please prove me wrong. Just a gut feeling.

Getting to the inside is key if you don't have a quick shot or big body screens. Since we're not likely to win the screen battle against WPG's D, and no one outside of Tarasenko is capable of beating a goalie clean, we need to DRIVE THE NET. This draw defenders and opens up lanes for outside shots and also creates chaos for the goalie.

O'Reilly is on line 1, he doesn't sound happy.

I said it another thread at some point, but I’ve never been so wrong about a player as I was about Sundqvist.
I think nobody didn't believed him to be this affective and important player for us. I only counted when we lost few players who will step in to PK job and review Sundqvist should be the one and I was right about that, but seein him to become top9 center and PK specialist for team is sick progress.

Only weak area in Sundqvist game is faceoff dot which was 42% in regular season and post-season this series ~45%. If he would become 55% faceoff guy and knowing how good he's defensive zone he would become huge impact to our team which he already is.

Series postmortem: After we took the first two, I thought we were a functional power play away from a series sweep. That sweep didn't happen, but we did score some PP goals in the last few games that were huge.

What was more huge was that Schenn/Perron line swap. That wins us games 5 and 6, no doubt. Schwartz turns it on at the best possible time and POT had some good chances last night. Hell, the fact that we closed this in 6 and 91 was generally contained bodes very well.

What I'm happiest about is that Binnington looks like the real deal. Non unsustainably hot or lucky, just confident, steady and skilled. Other than the team breakdown in game 3, dude looked like the kind of goalie you need to get to June.

Very happy. Onward and upwards!
