AV is signed through 2019-2020. He got an extension in January. His leash is probably one more year. This group's gotten everything out of AV. With another coach, there may be more that can be squeezed from this group. They don't need to change their style, they need to add a forechecking game on top of it. Many of the good teams play the same uptempo style but can actually grind or adapt depending on how a game morphs. This group is hugely stubborn. Four times MTL stacked the blue line late last night, and four times they tried to carry the puck in and failed.

These are the type of lazy arguments and over-generalizations that frustrate me especially from smart ***** like Herman.

Hits are correlated with lack of possession. They aren't (necessarily) the cause. It's not that the NYR don't have the puck because they are focused on hitting. They don't have the puck because they can't beat a trap or a stacked blueline to save their lives. And because they don't have the puck, they inevitably hit more.

LA Kings "tuffness" like being able to grind, generate a forecheck, and cause havoc in front of the net undeniably WOULD help (even with possession) but the NYR suck at that too.

Which is to say the Rangers are hitting but they're not really pushing the other team...and I agree with what you're saying. A case in point is someone like Gallagher. He inevitably goes to the net and gets involved in a scrum every time Montreal is on the attack and he's not the only one. The Canadien players are getting their noses dirty. Whether they're hitting a lot or not they're going hard to the net all the time and the Rangers are maybe hitting more but they're not going hard to the net nearly as often. They're not making things uncomfortable enough for Montreal's defense. Some of them are notably shying away from Weber for one thing.

After the 2013 second round ouster by Boston. Hank was asked about his impending free agency and his answer was "We'll see, its been a fun amazing ride" pretty much those were his exact words. The franchise then went into panic mode.

Me neither. I vaguely remember Richards having a lot to do with Torts getting canned.

I do remember Hank having a say too, but not with threatening to leave.

In his post game interview when we got eliminated by Boston he insinuated he was not committing to signing a contract extension

Torts was canned I believe IMO that after management did their interviews and got the players perspective, they wanted a system change, combine that with Hank's comments and Torts refusal to change his system/ways when he met with Sather is what got him fired. If you put the dots together it comes out like that IMO.

If getting embarrassed in the first round two seasons in a row is not enough to fire someone, I don't know what is. This is not the Oilers who if they got embarrassed two playoffs in a row that would be a step up.

Per Dan Rosen, Kreider-ZBad-Buch was both a line for regular rushes and during PP work, so I'm guessing Buch on for Glass tomorrow

Habs fan coming in peace.

I have a genuine question about last night's game. Wondering if anybody has the answer.

Haven't had the time to follow the NYR closely but I noticed in last night's game during the PP that they'd try to enter the zone by stick-handling through a MTL player and failed to gain the zone the handful of times in a row this happened. Not once did they dump & chase. Was a little surprised at this, to be honest.

Wondering who's idea was it ; the players' on the spur of the moment, AV's, or the NYR's PP specialist's?

I get the idea, ride the horses as hard as you can. But you simply cannot compare Seabrook, Keith and Hjarmalsson to McD, Skjei and Smith. Keith is an absolute stud future HoFer, and I believe largely underrated. I wouldn't take McD over any one of those guys, and Smith isn't even in the discussion. I will resign that Skjei definitely has the potential, he can move the puck and play solid in his own zone.

I truly think Rangers management has overvalued the current roster. Their "top" guys cannot match with the "real" contenders best. As I said earlier they just lack the high end talent that cup winning teams posses.

I think this current roster will continue to be a playoff team with early exits. I understand they have a large passionate fanbase to appease which is why I don't believe that they'll do what they should've done after the cup run which is re-build.

not to mention we don't even have anyone that can carry Kane's jock strap in playoff time when it comes to clutch goal scoring. that and 3 stud d men in their prime is how he won multiple cups.

They've been doing this most of the year, but usually sprinkle in more drop passes through the neutral zone. If a team clogs the blue line, they've proven time and time again that they won't adjust and will just keep trying it.

Dumb but predictable AV move. Take out one of the few effective players in exchange for more perimeter play.

Yea, what will we ever do without all the offense Glass brings us.

Who cares about banging bodies when you cant put the ****ing puck in the net. Glass isn't even a NHL player.

I don't know how to feel about the move but one thing is for sure its a move the coach can't win with the fans by keeping glass in for buch. i would say 90 percent of the fans want buch in for glass. I mean the team was dead at home last night so i guess throw in someone who can shoot the puck. I guess just gotta find a way to get the puck

The players should have a closed door meeting. What for? I don't know. It just feels right.

We are for sure getting ourselves hyped for an AV firing for no reason

I would love him to be canned, but I have a feeling it won't be this summer

Hes been more effective than at least 9-10 other Ranger forwards. Even has a goal. Not defending him but he has certainly been a positive this series. I think you even know that. That speaks to more how pitiful the top 9 has been.

You are absolutely correct in what you described. The phrase you are looking for is "inability to adapt to a situation in game."

I wasn't talking about fan opinions, I was talking about what's happening on the ice. Julien made an obvious adjustment in Game 2, and it's killing the Rangers because AV keeps trying to jam a square peg in a round hole when it comes to beating the trap. Also, AV is gifted with some of the best forward depth and one of the best goalies of all time. Don't talk like this team doesn't have talent.

Regarding Laviolette, have you seen how Nashville has obliterated the Hawks so far? Ya know, there's also this:

060619StanleyCupCelebration19PeterL.jpg

Ah, what is happpening on the ice when you describe it is fact-based. When a fan with a different opinion says it, it is fan opinion. Got it.

Julien made what adjustment in Game 2? He was 17 seconds away from being down 2-0 at home to a coach you think is an idiot. Every Montreal fan thought he was a total moron at that point.

Your Nashville example of a team being up in a first round qualifies as evidence of being a good coach? That's scary-bad analysis. Actually, it's not even analysis.

And you saved the most inane for last. Because Laviolette won a Cup makes him a good coach? That's really lazy thinking. Torts won a Cup, but most here wanted him run out of town.

If a coach wins a Cup and another coach loses in the Finals, your assessment is that the winning coach is a better coach?

Your opinion is no different than those that maintained Hasek wasn't a great goaltender until he won a Cup, which never would have happened if he never left Buffalo.

He's scored more than most of the top six in the series thus far. And top nine if you want to throw in Miller and Hayes.

this. no bothering mentioning names but we know which pitiful forwards they are.
but if Buch is to get in he needs to get in top 6. Send grabner down to 4th line and hopefully the 4th line stays effective as they've been
