Yeah Monaco is rich.
Though their team wasn't assembled with crazy money and I think that was the point.

I'm not sure that was the point. The post I quoted specifically said it's difficult to win if you don't have deep pockets, and used them in the same comparison as Leicester, implying what Monaco did was against the odds. They do have deep pockets and it's what allowed them to go from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1 contender in a short matter of time. No matter how you cut it they're a terrible example to use. I'm not claiming they simply bought their title, but they have spent a lot of money for a Ligue 1 club since their promotion, more than anyone else other than PSG. So when you're one of the richest clubs in your league and you use that money to create one of the best teams, you can't claim that's some remarkable achievement. It's quite a realistic conclusion actually.

I agree with your point. But the poster also said "win the league". And for the money Monaco spent, it's incredible they managed to beat PSG (and reach a CL semi final) with a roster that cost a fraction of what PSG, City, United or the 2 spanish giants cost. When Monaco eliminated City, I think their whole starting XI was less expensive than KDB+Sterling or something like that.

Then and there
Berardi hasn't had a good scoring season at all, but a nice finish by him today. Icardi with huge misses today, but Inter can still make the CL with a win over Lazio.

*crickets* over Juve's title so I'll go ahead and say it. 7 titles in a major European league is mighty impressive.

To put it into context, even if you gave a team a 90 percent chance of winning the title that team is still more likely than not to slip up at least once in a 7-year span.

Though traditionally they are not a Serie A club, first promoted in 1990 and then enjoyed a dozen or so unsustainable years of success with Parmalat money until that company went bankrupt. Hopefully now financed by the Chinese they will not just repeat old mistakes and try punching above their weight again, but find their own sustainable level.

Crotone relegated to Serie B along with already known Benevento and Hellas Verona, Crotone had the toughest task needing to win in Naples and they didn't do it. SPAL manage to stay up in their first Serie A season since 1968. Milan's big win over Fiorentina today means they go directly to the EL group stage while Atalanta will have to navigate the qualifying rounds which is always tricky for Italian clubs as they start their season so late

The big game kicks off in less than an hour, Lazio-Inter for that final CL spot, Lazio only need a draw while Inter must win because their H2H would be better than Lazio's

Lazio take the lead, weird goal as Marusic literally blasts a shot off Perisic's face and it goes into the net...weird because the shot Marusic was taking was probably going miles wide

Spalletti the mastermind once again. Would have loved to see what he could do with a real quality team but it probably will never happen.
