"Dorion should have never made the trade for Duchene without having the draft pick being lottery protected. You should always lottery protect a 1st round draft pick. Dorion is an amateur. "

OK here is the move the Sens need to at least attempt to do.

Dzingel to Colorado for their 1st this year (not ours back). And if Dzingel doesn't resign with them, we give them a 2nd or 3rd in 2020.

The key to all this is Dorion announcing to Sakic that if he doesn't do the deal, the Sens will be going balls to the wall the rest of the year to play vets and pass the 4 or 5 teams within a point of them right now. However, Sakic does the deal, it is a signal to the team to go on a youth movement, try out several Belleville guys, and inevitably hand the Avs the 1st or 2nd pick that will come from finishing dead last, from the Duchene deal.

This year Dzingel guarantees them a playoff spot, and a possible run, and also wipes out our chances of much success with a 30 goal scorer gone.

But this needs to happen fast; if it doesn't, if/when Duchene and/or Stone appear to be on the verge of trade for futures, there is far less leverage with the Avs, and Sakic probably just waits until we implode regardless.

Ottawa vets are already doing such a great job keeping them out of the 31st spot.

Boucher not pulling the goalie with 10 seconds to go and down 2-3 with a faceoff outside their own blue line is a bit baffling. Andy seemed to think so too, judging by his confused look.

Maybe Boucher is trying to gain favor with the Avs for when they fire Bednar, or Pratt lol.

I like how that poster thinks that just because Dzingel is a 30 goal scorer on a pretty terrible club, he would be a 30 goal scorer on our club. I still think the Sens have better depth than us, but there is a reason why they're playing Dzingel enough ice time to be able to accomplish a 30 goal pace (and still lose).

I didn't know Dzingel can play goal.

The following information is courtesy of senspicktracker.com (Sens Pick Tracker - Tracking the draft odds for you!), which is an interesting site if you have not checked it out. Ottawa has actually fallen off their projected points total pace from a few weeks ago, which surprised me, as it seemed like they were playing better in the last few weeks. Their shooting percentage (7th overall) and save percentage (7th overall) is keeping them from really falling.

The Sens losing is all fine and well, but at the rate we're trending we're going to be right above them in the standings when all is said and done

Yes, that's what Ottawa finishing in last place means...
