Probably?

Every team in the NHL hopes that their bad contracts get claimed off of waivers.

These usually go like this.

Team tries to trade player, but there are no takers,
Team then waives player hoping another team will take him for free, but when that doesn't happen,
Team then trades players and either retains, pays someone to take him with draft picks, or takes a contract back in return.

can someone show me what a Sens forward group right now looks like at the NHL level??

Depends on which rookies* make the team, but when healthy:

Dzingel-Duchene-Ryan
Tkachuk*-Pageau-Stone
Bodker-Tierney-White*
Paajarvi-Chlapik*-Pyatt

Which is not that bad... The forward core is pretty crowded. Moving Smith is not exactly a bad move. We need to make room for the kids.

The guys barely even an NHL player at this point.

If he were a free agent, he would get a PTO or one of those 1 yr, $1M deals.

Nobody's claiming that contract.

I am not sure if there is a 60 point player on that roster honestly.. ANd Duchene and Stone are likely gone at the TDL.. And in my viewings I see potential with Tkachuk but he should in no way be making the roster this year he needs more time seasoning.

3 more years @ 3.25 Cap Hit and Salary.

Good useful player but given the contract situation I wonder if anyone will actually bite.

A lot of guys have to have career seasons just to keep pace with some of the worst teams in the league.

Stone and Duchene should be 60 point players, but with nobody else dangerous in that lineup its going to be hard for them to produce anything.
