More than likely.

Part one turns about 10 hours of the original game into a 30-50 hour game (the same length as any standard Final Fantasy. Roughly the same length as the original game).

This isn't a remaster. It's a complete remake from top to bottom. Think of it as Final Fantasy VII '97 was a movie and Final Fantasy VII Remake is the TV remake with multiple seasons. This is season 1.

I would much rather they expand on the first game and give it all the details they originally wanted as opposed to just an HD remaster of the original game.
