As we have been doing since 2004, we are going to use the HF criterias for prospect eligibility (less than 65 NHL games and under 25 y/o)

NHL Prospect Criteria - Hockey's Future

I have removed prospects who graduated (Jaros, Wolanin, Hogberg, Paul, Zub), were traded (Gruden) or not qualified (Hawryluk, Englund)

Remember to vote based on all factors and not just NHL readiness. Overall skillset, hockey IQ, upside potential vs floor, age, stats, skating ability, array of shots, leadership qualities, size/strenght, etc

Personally, I always ask myself, who would I draft BPA in priority among these players?

Try to do some research on the kids, particularly the new ones. People can post links and videos about some of the prospects that should be voted soon

Pinto/Jarventie/Abramov/Greig is the next tier for me. Might switch around Abramov and Greig still.

I have no sophisticated read on any of our goalies so its hard for me to vote for them until we get to the tier of guys that I have less confidence in. Maybe will start voting for a guy like Sogaard near the end of the Kleven/Sokolov/Thomson/Balcers tier.

I was torn between Pinto and Jarventie here. If Jarventie can continue his solid play in the Liiga then he's my choice. For now I'll go with Pinto.

Wonder where Lassi Thomson falls? I don’t have him in the top 10. His overseas stats are bad, could be our Finnish Brian Lee.

Thomson might drop a bit compared to our previous ranking but he should still be absolutely be in the top-15. I mean he was a 1st round pick LAST YEAR. It would be very foolish to label him as a bust now.

The thing is if you're in the Sens Top-15 this year, you might still be a very good prospect

It's really not the kind of pool a NHL team can have every year. It's pretty unique and we might not see that again in a long time (unless Melnyk strikes again)

I mean, there's EIGHT (8) first round picks, Two (2) of them were top-5 very recently. And there's also several 2nd round picks and guys that rised since being drafted.

I'm gonna go with Greig. Obviously Pinto is way ahead in development since he is almost two years older. I just think Greig has an under rated ceiling, He had the highest PPG on his WHL team last season. He has an excellent first couple of steps and above average skating ability.Biggest thing that excites me about him is his passion for the game, kid plays bigger than his size and wants to make a difference on every shift.

Laugh now but I think a 1st line centre type ceiling isn't outside of the realm of possibility for him.

Making Tomasino, McMichael or Kaliyev the Kopitar in that analogy?

Pinto for me with Abramov a close second

I have zero expectations for basically every name on this list. Lots of potential depth guys.

Balcers should absolutely be in the top 10.

Close between Balcers/Pinto/Greig for the next 3 spots.

I think next poll should be a ferocious battle as the next tier after Pinto should be (in no order) :

Balcers
Greig
Abramov
Thomson
Jarventie

Balcers absolutely has to be considered for the next poll(s). I think some are sleeping on him because we didn't really see him in the NHL last season so it,s been a long time already. But we are forgetting the injury to start the year. Pretty much like Wolanin.

Those 2 guys are kinda "forgotten"

I have zero expectations for basically every name on this list. Lots of potential depth guys.

Lot of future NHLers still not picked. Some will have long NHL careers, some might even be impact players.

And by list, you mean poll options left? Not the guys already voted I suppose

I get the Pinto love... he is really the obvious choice here. I went with Daccord because I think he deserves the ranking based on what he did at the both the NCAA level and at the AHL level.

Can someone voting for Thomson here explain how he deserves to be the next prospect in the rankings?

Yeah, there are still 5-6 guys ahead of Thomson here
