We gettin all dem Russians.
Edit: my bad.
this actually seems good...
A trade we didn't lose?!?!?!
Good trade by Dorion lmao. Smith was so bad last season.
Smith has two more years left on his contract.
Anisimov just had a 2M bonus paid a few days ago, so this is yet another short-term cost-cutting/cap bloating deal.
Zack Smith is owed 6.5M salary and Anisimov 5M now that his bonus is covered by Chicago.
Their contracts expire at the same time.
Wow Dorion actually won a trade
Says a lot about how incompetent Stan Bowman is at his job
What pick are we giving them?
ZS Cap Hit: $3.25 million for 2 years
ZS salary: $6.5 milllion over 2 years
AA Cap Hit: $4.55 million for 2 years
AA salary: $5 million over 2 years
We making money moves.
Seems like a decent trade for a player who has more offensive skills than Zack.
Unfortunately this trade does not help the tank strategy. So boooooo!
Anisimov is due 4.55 the next two years.. so 4.55x2 = 9.1
If what you are saying is correct then 9.1-2 = 7.1 million is still to be paid
Smith is 3.25 x 2 = 6.5 million
So there is no $$ savings by Ottawa
edit: just saw an actual salary breakdown of Anisimov's contract. The AAV us 4.55 but next year he only makes 3 million in total salary. This years salary (assuming Chicago paid the signing bonus) is 2 million for the Sens ($4 million including the SB )
Ok I guess I had bad information.
Decent deal I suppose, better player with a higher cap hit but lower salary owed.
Checks off the Melnyk boxes.
trade Tierney now
Should have sold high years ago when it was so bloody obvious he was temporarily playing far beyond his level.
Chicago has rumoured to be interested in Smith for a whole now, about time they pulled the trigger. Nice trade by Dorion, surprised we're not adding a 2nd round pick.
Not bad actually, but, how does Euge save money here?
What a great deal. Pleasantly surprised. I think Chicago has kicked tires on Smith in the past and a Connor Murphy swap was discussed when they still had him. I wonder if Tierney heads out the door as a result of this, or if we just roll 4 pretty decent centre based lines:
Tkachuk White Batherson
Duclair Anisimov Ryan
Balcers Tierney Brown
Ennis Pageau Boedker
No. Anisimov's cap hit is 4.55M, but his salary owed over the next two seasons is 4M in 19/20 [2M bonus already paid by Chicago and 2M base salary] and 3M in 20/21 [1.5M bonus and 1.5M base salary]. His contract was front loaded. The Sens are on the hook for 5M while Zack Smith was owed 6.25M over the same time frame.
It's a money saving deal for Ottawa. Everything they do is about saving money.
Anisimov was paid a bonus several days ago.
Less total salary owed than smith.
Separate names with a comma.
