A backup goalie, which was sorely needed.

Having a pretty terrible year, but anything new is welcomed.

Also Melnyk getting Pyatt off the books as he's on a 1-way.

Well Darren Archibald is a pretty physical player. I don't know if he will stick in the NHL but he could bring some entertainment when he gets his chances

I like it

We still have 2 6th rounders next year

Nilsson is a clear upgrade and Archibald can bring a physical presence when he plays

If Nilsson and Hogberg both play OK hockey it also makes it a lot easier to trade Anderson by the deadline

So my next question is did we add or cut salary?

We add about 400k (given that we are halfway thru the season)

Don't really see the point of this deal. The players involved cancel each other out and then we also give up the standard throw-in draft pick.

I'd argue that we acquired the two best players in the deal

We still have 9 picks next year and will add more before then

Even though this is a small move, I like this from a Canucks perspective.

Make some space for Demko, get another pick, get a better player than Archibald in Pyatt. Decent move.

Archibald is a puppy at the NHL level. He's supposed to be a tough guy that plays on your 4th line. Does a lot of floating around. Great AHLer though. Fan favorite in Utica where he will sorely be missed. Just like Demko ;)

Most interesting thing here is the Canucks now have 3 6th round picks in 2019.
