I think that's totally fine. Not putting pressure on anyone when the team is very bad.

Smart move. Why put additional pressure on Chabot or Brady when they are still trying to find their own way in the league.
One more year and it will become apparent who the leaders are on this team and who is in the best position to gain the respect and loyalty of their teammates!

I have no problem with this plan going forward, but I would not mind seeing a veteran that has been a captain somewhere brought in as a bit of mentor to either of Brady or Thomas for this season.

As this team of so many new young players starts to birth itself over the next couple of years, hopefully a captain will emerge along with team identity. Its a good mantle to reach for.
