Why not let the NHL clubs sell player contracts ? If NYR wants to give CGY 20m for Iginla, then why shouldnt CGY be allowed to take the money ?

CGY could then put some money in their owners pockets and use the money to develop more players. They can then in turn sell them again and be like a player / money factory.

I see no competitive nor moral problem with this, so isnt it allowed ?

No, it's not allowed. And how exactly does that help Calgary? They'd just be a farm team.

So you essentially want a transfer system like in soccer??? If the soccer transfer system has proven anything, its given the have's more and the have-not's less. Good idea dude!!!

you dont think CGY would be better off with 20m in the account than Jarome Iginla ?

With the current economic situation in the league, what's the ultimate advantage to having all that money? Being able to get players like Iginla and keep them.

Basically the Flames would just be going in circles.
