Injury Report: Seidenberg to miss remainder of season with torn ACL/MCL

Mark Stuart is UFA at the end of the year. Jets are going nowhere. That's my pick for who I'd like to see Chia bring in. Solid as solid gets in his own end, knows the system, shouldn't cost much, a 4th or a 3rd at most.

33/55 - ~25
43/27 - ~20
47/54 - ~15

..for rough estimates of icetime, I can live with this in the playoffs.

It sucks that the Chara-Seids combo won't be able to be together during the playoffs. It was tough for top lines to get anything going with the two of them paired up, combined with Bergeron's line matched-up against them. We were missing Seids for a stretch last year in the playoffs, and we were okay. At least there is time for Chia to do something, at the very least adding some depth to supplement the younger players. I hope he looks to do something big though. This is a championship caliber team, and that can still happen without Seids, but I would feel much better if Chia replaced him with another top 3 D or even top 2 dman...hard to find and costly, I know. It also sucks that we might have been able to use our assets to bolster the offense, and now they will likely need to be used to fill a spot vacated by injury. Sucks.

I have no doubt that this team can continue to win a lot of games without Seids. It has done it before, and will be fine this time...until we get deep into a Cup run. Where we will miss him is when we are playing a series against an elite team. A healthy Seids is a very important piece to this system. It would be awesome if our young guys could improve enough to be able to adequately replace what Seids brings to the table in the playoffs, but it would not be wise to bank on that during a year in which we have a legit chance at winning a Cup.

I wouldn't mind seeing him back

I don't really see where he helps, even if the cost is low. He's truly a bottom pairing D and does a job that can be done by numerous others. He doesn't help replace Seidenberg much. Maybe good for experience, but the "depth" we already have.

I'm not worried about the first pairing. Boychuk or Hamilton play outstanding there.

I'm worried about who's going to be playing with Boychuk or Hamilton on the second pairing. You can set out the Bergeron line with them, but I have a feeling that Krug on the second pairing would be a not-so-fun adventure.

I have a feeling Trotman is going to be a nice surprise. I really like his game and I think he's going to surprise people more than Miller did.

I am not sure about Kevan Miller ability to be recalled with waivers or how banged up he got in Portland the other night but he has a lot of Seidenberg game in him.

The Patriots lost a third of their starting team and said FU no excuses and plow on. Seids in valuable but the Bruins ARE SUPPOSED to be built to deal with this.

Opportunity knocks and there should be a nice little line of guys who want to show they are ready to play well

That just plain sucks. The worst part is that Seids ate up a lot of minutes which I don't see any of the remaining defensemen doing on a regular basis.

I'm not sure we even see him unless someone else is out- Morrow should end up swapping with him when they get back home

Honestly, this is dougies time to show himself. IMO u need to keep boychuk on the 2nd pairing to even the depth out, and Hamilton has shown to at fantastic with chara.

Who can play their off side? Bart is NOT a top four d man, and I'd prefer to keep Krug on the bottom pairing with McQuaid. Can miller play left side??

I don't think the Bs can find anyone close to as good as Seidenberg without destroying a chunk of the team's future. And what's the point of getting a veteran who is not significantly better than Bart or Miller or Trotman? Better off letting those guys play a ton and watching them develop along with Krug and Hamilton.

its not like the guy wasn't the best dman in the 2011 cup run, I just thought the term and length for an aging oft injured injured player was too long. He also seemed to have lost a step.

HE ISNT OFT INJURED AND IS NOT THAT OLD, get a clue.

Terrible news for Dennis & the Bruins, but I love this idea !!
