Congrats on winning your first round Great Lakes, here's to a good series.

I don't know how big a write up I'm going to do but I figured I'd at least look up the pitching numbers for both sides atm...I do feel Browns have the edge pitching-wise on the whole, particularly in the pen. Certainly some starting matchups are pretty close on paper and Koosman's numbers are clearly affected by his longevity (but by the same token Darvish probably would have better numbers than he even does now if he was able to come over earlier in his career when he was dominant overseas). I'll take my chances in the first two games, especially with my righty-heavy lineup going against Great Lakes' two lefties. If you didn't factor in each team's lineup Oswalt-Wainwright would be pretty much a tossup as both were/are great big-game pitchers and have fairly similar numbers overall.

Rotation (career stats):
Koosman 3.36 ERA 1.25 WHIP 110 ERA+ vs. Darvish 3.29 ERA 1.18 WHIP 129 ERA+
Finley 3.85 ERA 1.37 WHIP 115 ERA+ vs. Cicotte 2.38 ERA 1.15 WHIP 123 ERA+
Oswalt 3.36 ERA 1.21 WHIP 127 ERA+ vs. Wainwright 3.17 ERA 1.18 WHIP 126 ERA+
Messersmith 2.86 ERA 1.14 WHIP 121 ERA+ vs. Lopat 3.21 ERA 1.27 WHIP 116 ERA+

Closer/Setup men
CL Wickman 3.57 ERA 1.4 WHIP 126 ERA+ (Great Lakes)
SU Thornton 3.41 ERA 1.27 WHIP 129 ERA+ (Great Lakes)
SU Lopez 3.48 ERA 1.34 WHIP 121 ERA+ (Great Lakes)
vs.
CL Street 2.97 ERA 1.06 WHIP 140 ERA+ (St. Louis)
SU Harvey 2.49 ERA 1.09 WHIP 162 ERA+ (St. Louis)
SU Gonzalez 3.14 ERA 1.29 WHIP 134 ERA+ (St. Louis)

I may put in more about the lineups later, I do feel Great Lakes has nice depth and balance as do the Browns but the one difference that really sticks out to me is Great Lakes' top of the order (Fregosi .338 OBP 113 OPS+ and Myer .389 OBP 109 OPS+) compared to the Browns (Kelley .402 OBP 134 OPS+ and Keller .410 OBP and 152 OPS+). I also feel if it comes down to it the Browns' bench has some pretty nice depth with the ability to have Campy's speed/defense late in games and also put in guys like Evans and Mattingly for defensive replacements late in games when they're not starting and not lose much offense - though Evans will obviously start against lefties and Mattingly against righties.

Best of luck to you. I believe our teams are pretty evenly matched and I would have loved to go into an in-depth analysis. Defense is definitely a strength of yours and it's something I struggled to find but I don't believe it would be a liability for me in this series. Having a good defensive third baseman in Ron Cey was probably one of my better picks. I like my starting pitching here and the outfield is deadly. Should be a well fought series.
