$50 as an entry point is just crazy to me. By comparison:

Mariners start at $11, with 81 games
Sounders start at $23.50, with 17 games
Seahawks start at $97.50, with 8 games (wait list)

I mean, I get it... this is the time to cash in. It just seems so unsustainable.

Depends on how good they are the first season. Anything resembling Vegas run and it’s gonna be sustainable. Bad first year will result in lower prices the next season.

Is it really sustainable in Vegas, though?

Usually sold out, and SRO full. On the ice, the team is still performing at a high level. The entertainment value is high (Bettman on local broadcast for Tuesday's game and commended VGK for their game presentation; guess he's in town for gaming convention); they have to compete with other Strip shows for entertainment.

(Reselling tickets for STH is problematic, just ask the hundreds of STH who have lost their tickets for reselling and trying to make $$. Selling/transferring to friends outside of the resale site seems the best way to handle things.)

I mean clearly it works for now because the honeymoon is still going strong. But is Vegas really going to support $50 for the cheapest seat in the house when the team is in its 5th year outside the playoffs? Or is that upper deck going to start to empty out when people realize just what a poor value it is to spend that kind of money on a lifeless product?

And when the empty seats start becoming more common, is management really going to be on board with rolling those prices back to true value? That’s where the rubber meets the road. Inflating values during the honeymoon is one thing... but during the 7 year itch?

And I agree, the NHL’s total control of the resale market (digital tickets) is an exacerbating factor. Market manipulation at inflated prices means that inevitably the STH are only able to take losses, and never gains, on the value of their purchase. The economics don’t make long term sense, and it’s impossible to kick that can down the road indefinitely.

BTW, I’m not picking on Vegas or Seattle here. They’re doing the same thing all the other franchises are doing. It all just strikes me as the sort of thing we look back on in 20 years as “that big cash grab before the bottom fell out”.

It mentions single game pricing starting at $20 which is more reasonable as an entry level fee. Curious how many seats will be priced at that level or will it be no seat at all? (social standing area)

I can't wait. I'll have to attend weekend games probably but if there are any single tickets available I'll def go. Especially against the wild.

I'm not surprised they are that expensive. NFL will always take the top spot. Baseball has so many more games and more seats to fill and the NBA doesn't seem to get too crazy unless you're a fan of a big market/good team. Also everything is more expensive in Seattle so this being another shouldn't surprise anyone.

Plus Mariners are garbage. I have a feeling a lot of season ticket holders will be former Mariners season ticket holders.
