Unless there's a big uproar I'm going to skip a preseason so that we can get things moving and start the season this Sunday.

The Yahoo folders have been cleaned out and ready for your new files - usual process of adding a text file to your team folder for position changes and ticket prices is back in effect.

I will have the last batch of updates processed by Friday at the absolute latest with new GMEditor files uploaded.

Any team with an incomplete roster will suffer with the infamous 'Dummy' players.

Bring on the season!

Nice way to start the new year, thanks Drew - although I shudder to think what the schedule will look like...

For the record, could you review for the new folks what constitutes a "complete" team for sim purposes?

Lineup changes

My bad. I thought there was a difference having the player set in a position before the OV rating was done so that it would not effect the ratings when he's shifted to a different position in a game.

PS Plus I didn't read the post to closely....:(

Isn't there still an issue with players who's salary is below 450k? shouldn't that be corrected before the season starts?

Drew, should we wait for the Western rating challenges to be implemented before updating our lines? Not sure if submitting them now would end up being rejected by the sim given they are not with the updated league files with the slightly different player ratings.

Thanks - bring on the season!!

Quick responses to a few things ...

The players under $450k stay as is, these are players that got these contracts before the salary rollback and the implementation of the $450k minimum and get to keep them (as they did last season) until the contracts expire.

On Arkhipov you need to negotiate a new contract with Reggie first, the old one has expired, before I can add him back (I can't remember if Matt did ratings for him either so that may also need to be done)

Nick as far as I know the ratings are irrelevant for generating lines but that said they will be done by tomorrow night.

Strange, I was under the impression that all contracts would go up to 450k. That's atleast how I understood the "one time chance" to buy out the farm guys for the old contract instead of their salary going up to 450k.

I signed Arkhipov to a 1m deal over 3 years in the offseason prior to the lockout. He should still have 1 year left on that deal (minus the rollback) if I calculate and remember correctly.

Ville, you'll have to provide a link to an old finances page or an e-mail to back that up in terms of the contract. We can't just add the contract based on what you recall it being. I think some people have old copies of finance pages and the like if need be.

Thats the way I understood it as well...

Rulebook-
" The HFNHL minimum player salary has been set at $450,000. All salaries lower
than $450,000 after the 2005-06 season will immediately jump to $450,000. If
a team does not wish to keep a player previously making less than $450,000 at
this new price, they will be given the opportunity to buy-out the player at a
cost of 100% of the players’ annual salary (this will not count towards the cap).
The player will then become a UFA.

Drew, it was also my understanding all contracts would jump to $450k as a minimum, although I don't think it's a huge deal either way.

thanks

i think we could start without the player ratings, i don't think they're going to play a major impact in who plays where, and their OV maybe a point or two?, and even if we start without them it owuld only be for the first game or two

Obviously I stand corrected.
I could have sworn this came up last year and we said they would remain

Like Nick said, I don't think its a big deal really. If its going to take too much of your time to input, I could help... or we could even just go as is if nobody has any problems with it.

No worries, I keyed a bunch of stuff last night including this and just have a handful more ratings updates to process and the files will be ready to go tonight.

Will we play several games per day to be able to catch up the big league?

i don't have a place to say, but i don't believe so, because we have 137 days in a season, that will take us to about late april if we sim once per day, which shouldn't put us too far behind, we'll finish maybe 2 weeks after the actual NHL does, and i don't know how the draft works if it's done before the real draft every year or just last year but we'd have time to get ours in before the NHL's as long as we stay pace with one sim per day..
