In your closet
1st PP unit struggles for 10 games or so until Schultz is moved off of it

Ference has a decent year in his reduced role, his status as whipping boy is (unfairly) filled by Reinhart

Purcell does just fine filling in for Eberle but his game falls apart after Jordan returns and he is moved away from RNH

Hall outscores Seguin by 10+ points. Main boards still refuse to give him any credit.

Talbot is the real deal. Nilsson bombs and Scrivens replaces him as backup

Hendricks begins to show to cracks as his body starts to catch up with him

Slepyshev is in the AHL by game 10

Nurse tears apart the AHL but continues to look a little lost when called up

Replacements opinion on anything oiler related will be the exact opposite of whatever popular consensus is ;)

Flames finish bottom 10 and win the draft lottery

- Oilers play awful in October, the board freaks out, but they play much better for the rest of the year. They still miss the playoffs though.

- When Ebs comes back, Slep goes down and Draisaitl comes up and sticks for the year.

- McDavid Hall doesn't work, at all. McDavid starts slow and spends parts of the year on the wing with different centres. Plays at a ppg pace in the second half. Loses Calder to Eichel. Main board calls Connor a bust but McDavid outscores Eichel every year afterwards.

- RNH is the team MVP

Wow, so many negative predictions.

Nuge flirts with the 70 point mark, plus or minus.

The Oilers play respectable hockey the vast majority of the year and flirt with the playoffs.

Bakersfield has an incredible year and some of the fringe prospects take a big step foward.

Lander scores 20+ goals.

Neilson legitimately steals the starting job and gives us the best goaltending we've had since Roli.

I predict the team to have a rough October. Learning a new system and getting accustom to new teammates will take some time.

After a month everyone will settle in.

My predictions otherwise

- I will be genuinely excited to watch every oilers game this year
- Hall will blow up this year with Mcdavid at center. Both will finish top 10 in scoring
- Reinhart will improve steadily throughout the season and will end the year with a spot in the Oilers top 4
- We will no longer see this team wilt after going down early and they will not flounder after being eliminated from playoff contention
- the team will finish ahead of the Canucks and Coyotes and come very close to surpassing the Kings and Sharks in the standings

With league average goaltending last year, we let in 50+ less goals. We really should have been closer to 80 pts.

So my baseline this year is 90 pts. I would be pleased with that.

This and a PowerPlay like we're capable of would make a major difference.

And I don't feel at all greedy expecting that.

Oilers are going to have another rough start and year

In all probability we will be out of playoff race by American Thanksgiving
