give me a break, Monahan and Gaudreau have been given plenty of opportunity to get far in the playoffs. It’s on them now. I agree that we need to keep Gaudreau, but we have to move on from Monahan.

Yeah move Monahan, and then Lindholm or Backlund gets injured and whos our #2C? Bennett? Ryan? Gawdin? Sounds like disaster in the pipeline, if you think Monahan is the reason we're losing you obviously don't know how bad leadership can be on players, Monahan was asked to play a more two way game,, of course its going to affect his point production, once Pelletier and Zary make the jump up, we should have a pretty balanced top 9, hoping Pelletier slides in on the top line and Zary slides in the 2nd or 3rd line. Look at teams with 3 top 6 C's that's what most teams want, just incase one goes down with injury

Does Monahan have an ‘A’ on his jersey? Or are we just handing them out to guys that don’t have a voice?

we will not win a cup with Monahan as 1C.

It doesn't matter if he has an A, that's for public looks, he's not one of the leaders in the locker room or hed be playing his game and not asked to play a different type of style, and it doesn't matter who's the 1C, Monahan may get the better o zone plays, but Lindholm/Backlund face off vs the other teams top players, you go ahead and ask any player, they don't go through Monahan about how they're playing, what they need to do to become a better player...

You have literally poured out 15-25 proposals in the last 3 weeks, at least 5 of them involve Monahan, and not a single one of them improves Calgary's overall performance, out of all the cheap proposals you make maybe 2-4 of them have made sense, the rest are bad for the Flames, you think im the only one who sees these? Stick to your pen and paper, maybe after you write down 700 proposals you'll make something fair for both teams involved, here you can take the GM's job with you

That is literally the point of these boards. Gauging opinions for crazy ideas for ur team lol. Maybe one trade you'll agree with and it'll be the perfect fit cause all we know for sure is that what's going on rn isn't working. I'd be a lot happier if we had two picks in the 10-20 range this summer, another good prospect to add to Pelletier/Zary, and 6 mil in extra cap space this summer. That's some serious reinforcements for two years down the road:

Gaudreau-_____-Lindholm
Tkachuk-_______-Mangiapane
Pelletier-Zary-Dube
Lucic-Bennett-________

Hanifin-Rasmus
Valimaki-Tanev
Kylington-______

Ship Monahan, Backlund, Gio, Ryan. Tank for this season with awful C depth (Lindholm-Bennett-replacement C like JT Compher from Monahan/Backlund trade). Get a top-10 pick.

Let's say you get 1st+prospect for Monahan, 1st+prospect for Backlund, pick for Giordano.

This summer we have 3 1sts, and 2 good new prospects with Pelletier and Zary.

Draft 2 C's in the first round, sign a guy like Danault or Lowry for 2C, and roll with Lindholm-Danualt/Lowry-Bennett until Zary and our other 2 firsts are ready in 2 years. Build through the middle by drafting and developing young C's. We won't be better immediately, and it will be a huge blow for Markstrom and Tanev who signed thinking we're a contender, but we clearly aren't.

After signing a Lowry/ Danault, we would have 3 mid-firsts this year, two more prospects, and 10 mil in cap space to find a 1C and 3RD. Great value for our assets. And, when a 1C option does come available via trade, we'd have tons of young pieces as assets instead of hoping some team is dumb enough to accept Monahan+ for a true 1C.

The fan 960 guys suggested that the Flames have been trying to move Monahan for some time with no success. I think that could be informative to what his value is.

When he's playing well, Monahan is a complimentary offensive #2C who can finish plays and make smart passes. He's got a good feel for the offensive side of the game. But he's extraordinarily inconsistent and when he's not playing well he's absolutely a liability who struggles to receive and make even basic passes. He'll play 20-30 game stretches like this.

And even when he's playing well, he's very weak in his own end because of his footspeed and is super soft on pucks for a man of his size. He can't carry the puck at all. Probably one of the worst puck carriers among all centers in the league, and that's not an exaggeration.

I think he could be a fit on a line with a guy like Taylor Hall, but you really need to pair him with a winger who can carry the play. His numbers without Gaudreau suggest he's closer to a 3C at 5v5 who can contribute like a top 6C on the PP. I believe Calgary knows this which is why they've kept them stapled together, and also why they've been trying to trade him.

He's overpaid at 6.4M IMO, but I think the Flames could get maximum value by taking back a cap dump.
