Did you feel he had the finishing ability of an elite young prospect last year when he had a 5 game goal scoring streak? Or what about when he scored 3g 1a in his second career playoff game?

What's your proof that RNH is a much better player? Because he scored more as a rookie? Because he was drafted higher? Jordan Staal was drafted much higher than Giroux and scored more his rookie year? Is he much much better than Giroux?

No I wouldn't trade Couturier for RNH. I have actually watched the Stanley Cup playoffs. The teams that win typically had a great two way center who can shut down the opposing teams best line and score timely goals. Mike Richards, Patrice Bergeron, Dave Bolland, Jordan Staal, Pavel Datsyuk, Rob Niedermayer, Rod Brindamour. Besides Datsyuk, none of those guys are superstars, yet all played a huge role in winning the cup. Couturier has as much or more talent than any of those guys besides Datsyuk. The Flyers have an RNH level talent in Giroux. The also have a future selke winner in Couturier, even though he has yet to win one by his 20th birthday.

I think Couturier easily has 80 point ability, he was just rushed on the team last year and is still a defensive specialist for this year. He is getting scoring chances in front of the net. Once Couturier learns how to finish he'll be a 25-30 goal scorer every year. He's still only 20. And at 6'4 he has untapped of potential to create havic in the goal crease.

I don't see the point in trading him for O'Reilly, which is basically what I see Couturier becoming (albeit a better offensive version).

People should temper their expectations for young players and they won't be as nearly disappointed in them.

I cant believe people already want to ship out Couturier. The kid was great in juniors. Hes the perfect third line center and penelty killer. If he played consistently on the first or second line in a couple of years ill bet hes putting up 55-60 points.

To trade him for anything short of an young elite defenceman would be amazingly idiotic. The Flyers need to keep their young talent, they've moved too many players for rentals in recent years, it is eventually going to catch up with them. Couturier's game is freakishly mature for his age, even if his offensive consistency isn't there yet.

The fact that every team in the league mentions him when trades come up is reason enough not to move him. Last I checked nobody here is an nhl GM. The kids 20. How many players are playing immediately when drafted? Why does everyone want him? He has so much potential and is already ahead of most players his age. If Homer trades him Couts would make him regret it.

That's not something you learn. It's an instinct. You either have it or you don't.

I will say he possessed the puck a good bit last night. That's a good sign-much like the couple games Brayden Schenn had just before his nice run.

People take time to develop. See Knuble and Clarkson's stats until their late 20s.

I would prefer Couturier not going through a sophomore slump, but it happens all of the time.

Couturier has untapped offensive potential who won't realize it for a while because he's a third option behind Giroux and Schenn. Would love to have him on the Leafs. You guys should remember that the kid is 20 years old and not even legal to drink in the United States. How many guys figure it out at age 20? This is his second year in the league after having a great year as a rookie last year with roughly 13 minutes of ice time a game. I know the Flyers need for a young defensemen but don't let this kid get out of your hands, he's going to be a special player. He can skate, great show, pretty solid foot speed and improving hockey sense and vision. Its a tough change from the QMJHL to the NHL and its only his second season.
