For anyone who has seen these two play often, who would you say has the edge in:

    Hands?
    Vision?
    Shot?
    Speed?
    IQ?
    Captain material?
    Creativity?
    Frame?
    Strength?
    Offensive play?
    Defensive play?
    Overall Upside?

Fixed. Come on, I love Kitchener, but you're being so disgustingly biased with your post.

Whats the difference in IQ between Couts and Landeskog?

Is it blow you out of the water difference or is it close?

I haven't had enough viewings of Couturier to be able to tell. But Landeskog's hockey sense is quality for the type of player he is...I think it might be good enough to surprise some people offensively in the NHL.

    Speed? Landeskog
    IQ? Landeskog
    Captain material? Landeskog

Frame? Tied (Landeskog is thicker...Couturier is 6'4)
    Strength? Landeskog
Offensive play? Couturier, I think goal scoring upside is pretty similar.
    Defensive play? Tied.
Overall Upside? Depends. Couturier may garner more money, I think Landeskog is more valuable to a franchise.

The leadership aspect gives Landeskog the slide edge for me. I believe the hype about Landeskog's intangibles.

I don't get how people are saying Landeskog is better defensively when the knock on Couturier is he's the best 2 way guy in the draft with high end skill...

The shot speaks for itself. The frame, I thought, would. Landeskog is 6'0. He's thicker right now. Couturier is 6'4, with a lot more room to put on a lot more muscle.

There's no way Landeskog has a better frame than Couturier.

Landeskog is 6-2 and Couturier is 6-4

BUT Landeskog is like 225 lb already as an 17-18 year old where Couturier is a skinny 194. Landeskog is the much better skater also. even with him being some 25-30 lb heavier.

In terms of stregnth and NHL readiness, it is a no contest. And until Couturier can show he can put on more meat and weight (without hurting his skating stride any further) Lando has the better frame.

Sorry a 6.4 center with skill and a two game is a very hard thing to pass on for me,lando is my second choice overall after him and will be a great player:)

Lol? Landeskog is 6'0, maybe 6'1, and 200 pounds

He is 'listed' as 6-1 207 on the official OHL website. But trust me, this guy is a bit bigger, don't only mean he plays big. He LOOKS big. Easily 6-2 220 lb now.

Lol at you biased Couturier fans. if he is better than Landeskog in that many catergories then why is Landeskog ahead of him in all Scouting rankings? Landeskog's skating and leadership must be amaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing then.

Landeskog has better shoot, frame, defensive, IQ, captain material, strength and upside. Offensive is tied.

BTW, 1+1 for Landeskog today...:handclap: :yo:

No way. Are you serious??? I highly doubt that. Everything I read says he's 6'-6' 1'' and 205ish pounds. Couturier is 6'4'' and 195ish, but is more likely to play at 220-230 in the NHL.

So every site lists him as 6-6'1, 200-207 pounds. But you say he's 6'2, 220. Do you have any source for this? Or am I just supposed to take your word? If that's the case... why?

It's not bias at all. I'd take Landeskog over Couturier because I think he's more of a sure thing to have an effective NHL career. But really, I only give Landeskog the edge in leadership, skating, defensive awareness and strength.

As for this scouting business. If there's one year where you take the rankings with a grain of salt, this is the year. RNH, Larsson, Couturier and Landeskog have all been ranked first throughout the year. There simply is no consensus top pick. The rankings today almost assuredly won't be identical to the rankings a month from now.

By the end of this thread, Landeskog will be 6'6 250 pounds and have the ability to dunk a basketball without even jumping..... The way I see it is I think a 6'4 frame that has plenty more room to add muscle is a better frame than a 6'0-6'1 frame that looks filled out already.... Some kids get their man muscles before others, and it definitely looks like Landeskog has gotten his man muscles already, whereas Couturier is still filling out.

And the IQ thing... if I guy shows great creativity, isn't that a sign of a high hockey IQ?? People are giving Couturier the creativity nod and Landeskog the IQ nod.... Lets just call it a draw.... Both intelligent players, just play different styles.....

Defense....... everyone picking Landeskog but all I keep hearing is how great a 2-way player Couturier is..... probably a draw here as well.

I love Landeskog's leadership and toughness
I love Couturier's size and creativity.

Overall: too hard to call: DRAW

I think that once both of these players fully develop at the NHL level, Couturier will be so much better than Landeskog that it will be a wonder as to how these two were ever put on the same plane for comparison.

Landeskog's intangibles will put him way over the top in the NHL, you will see. And quickly, in a year or 2 max.

mmm You do realize both are the same age and Coutourier isn't better.

I laugh at those that think Landeskog will not get much much better than he is right now or in the NHL next year.
